I agree with above, there is no single "best" answer, any of the metal polishes work great. Its more the procedure than the polish product. You need agitation, hard to get by hand. See your auto parts store for the leaders. Metal polish from any of the high end detail mfrs never really showed me more than the OTC stuff avail locally. Usually avail locally:
Semichrome
Flitz
mothers
Meguires
Metal polishes easily, find a polish and use it often. A coating will also keep the debris from sticking. Buy some Cquartz or other coatings and do your wheels and exhaust. Now stuff hoses off.
Basic question. Whats he best way to clean the visible exhaust tips on my Z51, C7?
I use Weidman Stainless Steel Wipes (borrow from my wife's cleaning cabinet, she uses them on stainless appliances). One towelette easily cleans the tips after each drive.
The semi chrome is a great product. It will polish them up real good. What I found is that on the upgraded exhausts, all you need is mothers after you polish them up real good with the semi chrome.
I started using the mothers immediately on my new Z, and the exhaust are not as shinny as my GS was. I have planned to polish with my Semi Chrome , but haven't done it yet. I will take a few pics to show you the difference.
Now if you have a base model corvette, with the standard exhausts. I suggest you get the semi chrome and not worry about the rest of the stuff. The semi chrome will be needed each time you clean it to get the best look from the base exhausts in my opinion. Its not a well polished metal on the base exhaust.
This is my favorite, as well. Start with the blue, and finish with the pink, which has some sort of wax that gives a mirror finish and protects.
I also wrap the power ball (for use deeper in the pipes) and power cone (for the tips themselves) in strips of old t-shirts, because I'm lazy and don't want to wash the foam (they are a pain to get completely clean). It works great and saves a ton of time, too.
This pic is from my C6, but the result is the same with the C7. I think you get the gist.
I have the standard exhaust, it has a dull polished look. I use a cleaner wax product to polish off the exhaust residue and eliminate the brown specks. I don't over do it, exhaust tips will be dirty again before the car leaves the garage.

Looks like this mothers product does the same thing as the semi chrome if not better since you don't have to use the clay bars. Nice!
I just use the mothers in the little jar after I polish them.
