Just got back from Reliable Chevrolet and they had just unloaded three new 2016's off the delivery truck, with two of them being Z06's and two of the three being the new red color.
Z51 with chromes and the new red and a Z06 with black wheels and the new red. The Z06 started down the assembly line on Sept 1, 2015 and arrived at Reliable on Sept 8, 2015(today).
To my eye, the color is not red but maroon. Reminded me a lot of the Honduras Maroon on my 1964 Malibu SS(and used also on the Corvette).
I didn't have a chance to look at the new red in bright sunlight, but under an overcast sky, and inside the shop where the Z06 was receiving it's PDI.
I really liked the color and it went very well with the black wheels(and I'm not that fond of black wheels) on the Z06.
The other Z06 was Laguna Blue.
Neither Z06's are sold, so one of you might want to check them out, especially the one painted the new red.
They also have a 2015 Torch red Z06 in the showroom.
I might also mention that their annual Corvette show is this Sunday(Sept 13, 2015) at the dealership, so if you are in the area, stop by, and if you want to, display your car or enter the show(no fee) and possibly win a trophy.
A big plus is that you can buy a raffle tickets(2) that will get you into any NASCAR race and into the pits and the garages. The tickets are not for sale by anyone and NASCAR gives them out to charities. Proceeds from the raffle will go to No Greater Sacrifice, Green Beret Foundation, and Breast Cancer Research. Two sets of tickets will be raffled off.
If you are a NASCAR fan, this is a chance to go to any NASCAR race and be able to go where the general public isn't allowed.
09/08/15: (1100) The preliminary order has been accepted but unfortunately there is no target production week (TPW) listed at this time.
Ref post #40 for all updates since placing order on 06/30/2015.
I went to Criswell last week (98 miles one way) and met with Mike Furman. He gave me a price that was less than $400.00 lower than Randy from Regester Chevrolet.
With a lead time of 6-8 weeks for delivery and the season drawing to a close, I'm going to stay with Regester Chevrolet. Randy has an allocation for a Stingray in September. Randy has the Chevrolet District Manager working on getting my order filled this month.
Thanks to Mike Furman for his time. Enjoyed meeting him and looking over their lot of about 50 Corvettes! They had three in Long Beach Red.
That's the color combo I'd get if I were ordering one, LBR with the gray interior! It looks so good, and people very rarely order that gray interior but it is my favorite of all.

Too bad GM doesn't offer a matching gray top for the convertible.
Checked my email today and got a nice surprise, my car has been built and they left the VIN number for me. The TPW was 9/7, so they must have started last week. Now for it to be released and trucked on down to Texas. Will follow up with the dealer tomorrow. The first LBR that I see in person may be my own.

Don't judge a color by how it looks on an overcast day, as some colors really need the bright sunshine to look their best. This color certainly doesn't look like maroon in the bright sunny shots we've seen so far, it looks like a nice deep candy apple red to me. This is a great shot right here that doesn't look anything like maroon in my books:

I called the dealership today and he told me my car is at 3400 and is to be built this week. He told me to expect 3-4 weeks for delivery to western Canada. Hoping that he is right, I plan on leaving
ASAP and driving the car to Phoenix so I can enjoy it this winter down south. Driving the icy mountain passes in Canada, Montana and Idaho in November are not part of my plans! Waiting on a LBR convertible

That's why I mentioned that I didn't see the color in direct sunlight.
Your photo looks a lot more red than the cars I looked at under cloudy sky and under shop lights.
Kind of like my Cyber Gray. It looks different when the sun hits the blue metal flakes vs when under a cloud.

That is one problem with a lot of metallic colors, they often look a lot better in the bright sun but then on a cloudy day they don't look nearly as nice. That's what I find with my LeMans Blue C6, it looks totally amazing on a bright sunny day, but I really don't like the color at all on cloudy days. My solution is to try and drive it only when it's sunny out!

I really liked the maroon shade as it appeared under the clouds. I guess that if I were to buy one in that color, I would only drive it on cloudy days.
capecodvette, i am interested in your opinion of the spice red interior with the long beach red exterior since you saw them in person. i ordered the spice red package on 2016 z06 vert (sight unseen). i love the exterior color pictures from the bash, and am trusting that gm would not put together a package (red exterior, red interior, red top) that is too matchy-matchy, as they say; what say you?
Hello Vettec4C5c6. Honestly, I did not see Spice Red in person. But, all the high resolution pics clearly, IMO indicate a toned down, and richer looking color. Love the LBR!!! I am confident you will not be disappointed. BTW, apologizes for the delayed response.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
