This may be a dumb question but why do you need a catch can?

The PDF mentioned in post #3 goes into detail of the benefits. Although Tadge Jauchter, Corvette Chief Engineer, recently said "coking" (a build up of caked oil on the intake valves that a catch can is trying to reduce), is not a significant problem. However that PDF quotes a small block Chevy engineer from an article in Hot Rod where he states, "“A little bit of oil on a port-injection engine can help lubricate valves, but because the Gen 5 V8’s (all C7’s as the LT1) are Direct Injected, there’s no fuel washing the back of the intake valve. That means oil in the PCV system can end up sticking to the back of the hot intake valves impeding airflow and eventually preventing the valves from seating properly.”
You car, your call but at least understand the issue with high performance direct injection engines. Folks like Ferrari, Porsche and BMW are concerned, at least to some degree.

So I did the install when I pulled the stock hose it had oil all up in it. The car only has 3k miles on it. I am glad I put it on.

I also will note the mounting bracket is different than the one on the elite eng website. The one I have bolts to the engine block. I had to move the wiring harness a little that goes to the coil paks and move one of the grounds down a little. It looks good .

Default Help with Catch Can install

1700 hard miles on my car yielded not even a film in my can.

The car runs awesome too. Maybe a lot of throttle helps keep it clean.

Hmm! Very surprising you don't have some oil in the can. Don't expect to see any in the clean oil separator on the dry sump tank.
Don't mean to be funny but if you installed a two outlet catch can and installed both outlets, one hose going to a hole you made in the air intake hose before the throttle body, do you have a check valve in that can hose outlet fitting? If not you're bypassing the PCV system! Mostly air will just go from the hose coming from the line before the throttle body directly through the can to the PCV line going to the intake manifold.
If you have a check valve in that line, it stops flow in that direction. A lot of throttle just creates more blowby that should mean more il mist etc going into the can, albeit at 1700 miles would not expect a lot. Just a question.

Not clear what hose had oil all into it? If you installed a two outlet can and found oil in the large air duct hose going to the throttle body the catch can will not help! Sounds like you have a dry sump and the oil is coming from the air vent on the dry sump tank. Which hose had the oil? If the short PCV hose, it could have oil residue.

I know my pics are a lil dark and hard to see...but does go to show they all hook up differently. Some may be single valve and some dual valve... Here's an RX Dual valve catch can. Mine mounted to an empty bolt hole on the engine block...it will however, have to be moved come time to install the supercharger! Also note in the 2nd pic, there is also a clean side separator on the dry sump oil filler tank. Something else you may want to consider installing along with your catch can!

Nice can. I like the placement.

But, I'm a little confused as to where the hose from your filler cap is going.

Below is a pic of where my clean air oil separator air vent hose goes. Bit different shape with my aFe Cold Air Intake System than the OEM but same location.

Haha...good eye! It does run down to the front of the intake! That pic was just taken before I cut the supplied hose to fit back onto the intake barb.

I agree very odd... Can you post pics of your install including exactly where each hose goes.

I too have the Elite E2, and my results are about 1oz every 1000 miles.
