Or, perhaps more accurately in my car's (2016) case Smashscreen. Maybe my expectations and/or techique are off, I dunno. The 8" screen in my Silverado works with a very light touch. Just a quick tap. This screen takes a determined push with a finger, which seems a bit excessive. Odd thing is that I performed a screen calibration and that took only a light tap to work, similar to the Silverado's. Maybe it's a question of dwell time?
What do others think of the responsiveness of their screens?
I feel my car's screen is sensitive enough considering it is part of a car. Definitely needs a deliberate push or selected function will be deleted or altered as the car moves and jumps about during normal operation. My iPad is to sensitive, sometimes just the shadow of my finger will set a function I don't want.
Mine does require a firm push. It could be a bit lighter, but truth be told I rarely use the touch screen. I use the steering wheel buttons to select favorites, the the menu button and **** to select most other things.

If you are a person that typically has dry hands, you'll find the screen to be less sensitive than someone with more oily skin. I have very dry skin and finally started using a stylus on the screen. I don't have to clean fingerprints off my screen anymore either.

The screen in the Corvette isn't capacitive, it's resistive, which means it responds to pressure, not skin sensitivity. It works with gloves on, or a pencil eraser, or anything else you care to push against the screen.
I was really hoping my '16 would have a capacitive display, it is not. That said it's very responsive for a resistive display.
It just ticks me off that they put a capacitive display in the 2016 spark and Malibu. Hard to make sense of that.
Demographics. Those cars are bought by 20 somethings, who expect modern tech. Corvettes are [mostly] bought by old farts who don't have the same expectations.
Thanks everyone. It's probably okay and I have to adjust to it. It didn't occur to me that the display in the Silverado might be different technology than that in the Corvette since they're so similar otherwise. Will play with that a bit more. I tend to have dry, high sheet resistivity, skin. Bugs the FBI guys every time they try to give me a polygraph.
Think I'll show it to the service guys next time I visit the dealer just to see what they say about it, but I can live with it the way it is, although it's a little awkward to use in its current state.
It does take a firm press which is not a problem for me in the case of a required touch, like to switch on NAV. Firm swipes are more of a problem for me.
Mine is OK, the firm swipe is annoying though. Very hard to use and I never attempt it while driving. Almost as bad as that dang message that tells us the the screen and be distracting while driving. Takes to long to read that info, which is more distracting than any thing going on with the screen...Sorry, a bit off topic.
I guess I adapted quickly to my screen.

I'm just passing on information that was given to me by one of the Corvette design team members with whom I had a personal discussion about this a year ago at the NCM 20th Anniversary Celebration. I try to only provide information that has a credible source.
