I got pulled over recently on the PA Turnpike for not moving over far enough while a state trooper had another red Corvette pulled over! I did move over but apparently not far enough to suit him. I'd say we were being targeted. I wasn't speeding either. The trooper explained to me that there would be no points, just a fine... talk about finding ways to generate revenue! I was about to pay the fine and be done with it but I had a problem signing on the line stating that I was guilty. I decided to challenge the citation in front of a magistrate and ended up having the charge dismissed! Glad to know that the magistrate was being reasonable. I only wish I had my PDR running... could have used that video as additional evidence to make my case.
All's well that ends well!

I turn on the PDR whenever I drive. I didn't opt for the PDR upgrade (or downgrade) removing the interior mic. so if ever I do get pulled over (haven't yet in a year) I can record the voices. I don't do unlawful stuff with my car, but it still can attract unwanted attention, especially with the ARH headers and B & B Bullets.
The software upgrade doesn't remove the mic. It doesn't use it in Valet mode only. Normal recording uses the mic.
I bought a C6 in 2006, and traded it in on a C7 late last year. I've never been pulled over, and I tempt fate even more so by not running a front plate (mandatory in IL).
been driving Corvettes for long, long time and have never been pulled over(last speeding ticket was in 1966 in my 1965 Impala).
Back in June I was leading 4 additional Corvettes on a two lane highway in northern AZ and got hit with instant on radar by an approaching LEO. I had the cruse set at 74(both the car's speedo and the GPS NAV verified that speed) on a 65 MPH road(nine over). The cop never flinched and we continued on at 74 MPH.
I get hit with radar all the time on the Interstates when I'm driving my C6 Z06, and they pay me little attention(if any) verified by me by never getting pulled over for a chat. And I don't run a front plate in my two plate state.
My first Corvette was a Carlisle Blue C6 coupe. Not long after I purchased he car, I was travelling through the middle of my small southern town at about 5:00am, when I saw the blue lights come on behind me. I pulled over honestly not knowing what I had done. The cop told me he had clocked me at 45mph in a 40mph zone and added that he would not have pulled me over, had it not been for all the pedestrians complaining about cars speeding through the center of town. All I could think of was it was 5:00AM!! There was nobody for miles around except for me and the cop; no pedestrians, no dogs, no cats, not even a dragon fly. In any case, I treated the cop with respect and kept my mouth shut. For my time, I received a verbal "warning" and was on my way. In the end, I guess I did not mind and yes, the cop was checking out the car from front to back.
Random question for my fellow corvette brothers and sisters. Do anyone of you get pulled over more when driving your corvette?
I ask because in the last two days I've been pulled over three times. First time because the female cop said she wanted to know the color of my car.....I'm being serious.
Second time was another cop flagged another cop ahead. I got pulled over because they said it appeared as if I was going fast. I was doing the speed limit.
Last time I got pulled over was I was at a light turning. As I tirn it goes up a hill so I have to give it some gas. Well I had a car next to me the whole time and we were side by side so I wasn't speeding. But this cop pulled me over and was pissed. He said am I stupid and am i testing him and what not. He didn't ask for my ID but wanted to scold me is all.
But each instance I truly wasn't speeding. But told it looks like I'm speeding. Granted my car isn't stock by any stretch but I'm still obeying all laws.
Just wanted to hear some perspectives from other corvette drivers. Because of this its making me not even want to drive my car anymore. Sad I know.
Stopped twice, once for no front plate and for speeding 55 in a 40.
Yes, there is more than one type of Vette tax and tonight I almost got 'taxed'.
The wife and I took the new Vette (still has paper tags) down to the local supermarket in order to do some banking.
After leaving the store, before I even left the parking lot, I noticed all sorts of red and blue lights coming on behind me. So, it looks like I'm getting pulled over by a local cop, but I couldn't have broken any laws.
I get out of the car (not nervous or anything, just wonder what's going on) and I ask the cop what I did wrong. He asked me what I was doing parking in a handicapped parking spot, and I tell him that we have a handicapped hanger for the mirror. He then asked me if we had the hanger on the mirror. My answer was yes we did.
He told me that someone called the local office and reported a new blue Vette parking in a handicapped spot without a handicapped license plate or hanger. I told him that my wife was legally handicapped and it was legal to park where we parked. I then showed him the hanger and he said that everything was cool. My wife is a >40 year type one diabetic with neuropathy and heart disease. Outside she looks healthy, but inside she isn't healthy at all. I told him that whoever called in on us could kiss my *** and he laughed.
By now everything was OK so I told him I figured he was pulling me over to check out the car. Well, he then asked if I minded him checking out the car, which I said OK. So he looked around and admired the car, plus he asked me a couple of questions.
My opinion is that someone was jealous as hell, then tried to sic the cops on us..............epic fail on their parts.
Just another Vette 'tax' for those of us who own one.
I used to be a cop for 11 years so I know how the law is and how cops are. But honestly this is a bit confusing because in doing nothing wrong.
I drive a blue C7, I know the blue is flash you can say along with the car itself. I have a few hundred extra horselower, so my car is a bit louder but it's not obnoxious or illegal unless I stand on the pedal.
I love in central arkansas where the south is known for cops being ruthless. And my town specifically is known as a speed trap but again, not speeding.
Also, when I got pulled over I didn't even get a hit on my radar. So they didn't even try to tag me or have their radar on.
I guess was just wanting to know if others are experiencing issues with being pulled over.
Have been driving a Vette for the past 6 years and have never been pulled over for anything. Of course Vettes are quite common here so they do not draw any unusual attention from the police.
I have been driving my 13" GS vert for over two years and have never been pulled over. The funny thing is that I drive my daily driver [a 2015 Dart] faster on the freeway than the GS, but in the vette I am more aware of the speed and the fact that it is a bit conspicuous so I drive a little slower.
I got tagged once last year before I put countermeasures in. Now I'm super careful and always aware of my surroundings. Technically I should have enough tickets to rival the cost of a nice set of wheels, but haven't been caught yet with countermeasures.
I got pulled over because they said it appeared as if I was going fast.
A police officer really told you that? No vette yet for me, but in over 35 years of driving "fast looking" cars, and getting pulled over for many things (real or percieved), police have always stated my offense as a fact. In any state where I have lived, when police give testimony in speeding cases, they always testify to "speed estimation training" where they are trained to visually estimate your speed, and then they verify with their speedometer or radar or other.
"Appeared as if you were going fast" appears to be fairly lame (see what I did there?) and is arguably inadequate PC to pull someone over (though yes, for the LEO's out there, I recognize that the threshold for PC in vehicle stops is almost nonexistent).
Even when I was once pulled over because I "appeared to be driving erratically," the cop stated that I was swerving (I jerked the wheel once while reaching around to try to pick something up from the floor of the back seat that my daughter has dropped from her booster seat).
We all had a good laugh and we were back on our way with no problem.

In 16 years of Corvette driving I've never been pulled over but way back in another lifetime when Datsun 240Z cars were first out I was pulled over in a tiny GA town by a trooper who wanted to check out the car. A lot of cops are car guys. Another car guy cop patrols my town and knows me and my 2 Corvettes. I was talking to him after I bought my C7. I pointed at the road in front of the shopping center we were in and said "My car is so quick I can pull out onto the road and go from 0 to 45mph in the blink of an eye." He enjoyed the joke and reference to me behaving myself on his beat.
Grabbing a Cuban coffee the other morning - had one offer to run interference to see what the car would do - it was either a set up or the guy was really a car guy - I passed up the offer.
