Grabbing a Cuban coffee the other morning - had one offer to run interference to see what the car would do - it was either a set up or the guy was really a car guy - I passed up the offer.
Six Vettes, pulled over once in my '07 Atomic Orange coupe. No front plate. we have to run them here in Ontario. Took a picture of the car with the front plate installed to the Assistant Crown Attorney. She threw ticket out. Of course, having a Brother who's a cop and another who's a Crown Attorney might help but nobody would know that when they pull me over and I just don't get stopped. Colours have been black, silver, silver, atomic orange, and black C7. Have lots of friends with Vettes. All colours. None of us seem to get randomly stopped.
as of today, I have never been pulled over in my Vette. I've had my C7 for 6 months, and have racked up a tad over 16,000 miles on her and have traveled through 8 different states on a recent road trip......got lots of thumbs up.....but not pulled over.
I have never been pulled over in a corvette (I have owned 4) except one night when I entered on of the random DWI checkpoints that appear occasionally. I have never received a citation in my Corvette. I have also not received a citation in any of my cars since about 1992. (it was not in a Vette) I hope I can make my road trip to the Smokey Mountains and the NCM next week (21th anniversary celebration) and keep my record clean.
The only attention I've gotten from cops so far is big grins and thumbs-up.
On my home from picking up my Z06 from Kerbeck, a cop pulled up next to me, beeped his horn a bunch of times, and when I looked over he was flashing me a huge thumbs-up. That's happened a bunch of times in the month since then.
I did get some of the same attention in my Stingray, but in the Z06 it's just off the charts.
with my 2006 never got pulled over but with 2015 got pulled over in michigan for 5mph over the limit. got a warning but let go.
crossing the border into michigan from ontario about a month ago, they searched my car. my wife and i had to get out, go into immigration and leave them the keys. i was worried about scratching the car as they have lots of items attached to their belts, but they were very very careful and the one officer came in to get us and said they did not close the hood or hatch as they did not want to damage anything. i thanked them very much for that, they were just doing their job.
this past weekend crossing into new york at niagara falls the immigration officer asked us the usual questions about why we were going into the US but then all he wanted to do was ask questions about the car. Very nice guy and he said he really liked the car and then away we went.
car attracts attention all the time.
Random question for my fellow corvette brothers and sisters. Do anyone of you get pulled over more when driving your corvette?
I ask because in the last two days I've been pulled over three times. First time because the female cop said she wanted to know the color of my car.....I'm being serious.
Second time was another cop flagged another cop ahead. I got pulled over because they said it appeared as if I was going fast. I was doing the speed limit.
Last time I got pulled over was I was at a light turning. As I tirn it goes up a hill so I have to give it some gas. Well I had a car next to me the whole time and we were side by side so I wasn't speeding. But this cop pulled me over and was pissed. He said am I stupid and am i testing him and what not. He didn't ask for my ID but wanted to scold me is all.
But each instance I truly wasn't speeding. But told it looks like I'm speeding. Granted my car isn't stock by any stretch but I'm still obeying all laws.
Just wanted to hear some perspectives from other corvette drivers. Because of this its making me not even want to drive my car anymore. Sad I know.
U want us to believe that with user name HOTROD???
Been pulled over twice in my vette (my C5Z) both for using the HOV (carpool) lane. It was on me the both times. Never in the C7 and I've passed cops many times
My favorite stupid Question they ask is "Do you know how fast you were going?" "Why yes officer I do!"
You can never talk yourself OUT of getting a citation, but you can talk yourself INTO one. BTW -> wrong answer; I wonder what the cop would write on the back of the ticket he keeps for court......driver admitted he was speeding.
