If you dump the C5 (what's the point in keeping it if you will have a C7?) ....
I kept mine b/c I still like it, it's paid for, I didn't get a decent trade in offer, I still like it, it gives me an optional vehicle to drive, especially on cold days where the C7 tires are not happy, it was my first, I still like it....the list goes on...
The 1LT is far from a "stripper." I got the 2LT because I could afford it, and some of the features mattered to me. But if the price of the 2LT package is out of reach, or you don't care about the extras it includes, the 1LT is just as much fun to drive as any other.
That said, C7Joy makes a good point. If you really want what the 2LT has to offer, and "settle" for a 1LT, you may regret it for years.
After owning mine for almost 4 months, I can honestly say I'd probably have been just as happy with a 1LT if I couldn't have justified the price of the 2LT.
Compare the differences between the two packages here:
If you're willing to travel there are deals on unsold C7s. I bought an unsold Z51 3lt for $60k. It was a 14 with 100 miles on it. The unsold C7s are usually at rural dealerships in small communities. Im picking up my car in Iowa.
Well, I purchased my 2015 base model with a clear roof and A8. Paid $52,000. (I would recommend selling your C5 outright. The dealer will give you jack squat for a trade.) Have not regretted it one bit. It is so much better than my C5 was that there is no comparison. I did not get the HUD or the NAV because I did not think I needed them. If you look around, you can get some really cheap financing.
That is some good savings there, how did you do that?

Depending on the options your C5 has, you may get a good amount on trading. Even for a low milage '14 or '15. Know what you would take for your car, being realistic, and see what the dealership offers you. Prepared to be insluted. The dealership I dealt with made me laugh all the way home, in my C5. Two weeks of negotiations with them calling me every day, one day they called me 6 times!!!, they got their heart right with Jesus and we made a deal.
You may, on the other hand, come out better selling the C5 yourself and walking into the dealership with a straight sale, no trade for them to try to screw you on.
Either way. Good luck.
You guys are great. Unwinding the option choices takes time as some of you have explained. Other cars that I have researched prior to purchase were simpler. With all of these options I could actually have a race car with luxury Cadillac features! Thank you to the member who gave me even more information in a PM. It seems like you have to stay with 18 inch front and 19 inch rear wheels and tires or you trigger an expensive option I don't want. Seems much better for me to buy after market 19 and 20 inch wheels and tires. It is still early but ordering a 2LT sounds best to me right now. Thanks very much everybody. As I build the money pile I will continue reading here on the forum to educate myself. Bob

I ordered my car as I can rarely find the car I want in stock at a dealership. That being said, before I ordered, I sat down and compared all three trim levels and their cost before making my decision on a 2015.
All is pretty self explanatory when you read and compare. Those items where I was unsure, I asked specific question to the forum member about their experience with that option and it's usefulness.
I then selected the trim level that best suited me wants and needs and the amount of money I was willing to spend for the upgrades.
Whether you are saving up for a base model with the Z51 option or a base model without Z51 option or a base model with 1LT, 2LT or 3LT, you will love the car.

First of all, it was not my first rodeo in purchasing a new vehicle. I did my research, made my pitch, and stood my ground. My dad taught me to "Never be afraid to walk away from a deal. Another one will come along." Never, ever let the dealer or salesperson think they are intimidating you. Make them understand that you know just as much about buying the vehicle as they do about selling. Dealers have a lot more wiggle room than they let on to have. Also, I bought the car right off the show room floor.

Folks who think the know as much as car dealers are delusional. You are swimming with sharks. The base coupe with no options is still a hell of a car. You can probably still get one for about $50k from one of the big dealers.

juanvaldez:
I think you're wrong about your statement above. Complete your due diligence, research, and don't get into the dealer spin or make the C7 an impulse purchase. As Rkhegler (post#32) stated above there is always another deal.
My C7 came from Nebraska in the middle of the corn belt out of the showroom with 5 miles, and 12.3% discount from MSRP.
I wasn't swimming with any sharks. It was my deal or no deal, actually it was "The Art of the Deal" made my deal such a success. How many C7 owners get 12.3% off the MSRP? Not many.
Hey Big bob...
Study everything you can get your hands on...feel free to change your mind as you find out new info...
I originally thought I wanted a Z51, and had my dealer ready to pull the trigger on one, but decided I really wouldn't be doing any track days so when it came time to finalize the order, I went with base model
with the 2LT package. I'm very satisfied with that.
Here's a good link to study...good luck with your pursuit!
