Default 2016 price increase

I know this has been mentioned before, but I'm a little slow. My 2016Z was ordered May 17. It was produced June 30 and delivered July 30. As I understand, there was a price increase mid July but since my car was built prior to that time, my car should not reflect that increase. When I go to GM's website and build a Z06 equipped like mine, the total is exactly what I paid. Shouldn't mine reflect the old pricing? Thanks

Not really a price increase but a difference in cost to the dealer as I understand it.

So the MSRP stays the same?

YES. I have worked the numbers every which way using GM supplier discount. The best I can figure on my car is GM supplier pricing before the increase was about 9% and after increase is now about 7%. I had it in writing to get 8% or more discount on my car when I placed the order and asked my dealer for 9% when the car came in last week and the dealer said No. The dealer advised me to become a credit union member and when I picked up the car they told me the $750 CU discount was for them to be able to do the 8%. I said NO WAY, after a heated discussion they gave me the CU discount and that put my total deal at a 9% discount, I probably left 1% on the table because the dealer and I should be price protected at the old GM supplier discount.

At this point I am very happy to have my car and enjoying every minute of it . I love it.
Good luck to you.

Hey, maybe they will mail me a check when they get credit from GM, (yeah right).

I have the same issue with a 2016 I picked up last week and talked to the general manager today at my local dealer.
I was also price protected but what happens is the sticker comes with the new price on it.
The dealer is reimbursed for that protected price.
He said he would send it to me when it arrives. I have no doubt he will as he has in the past.

Any idea what the difference is? I'm wondering if it's worth fighting the dealer over it.

There is not an increase in MSRP. The windows sticker price remains the same from the first 2016 to today. The price increase is on dealer invoice, which impacts what price you might have paid if you were paying below MSRP.

Full details from a forum dealer can be found here.

The delta in dealer price (not dealer invoice) was in the 2-3% range. Essentially, because GM raised dealer pricing, you will pay more from your car from the forum dealers that typically sell cars below dealer invoice because they are now paying more to GM for the same car.

That helps answer my questions. Thanks

There was a price increase on July 17th that affected the MSRP.
The difference in the price when I ordered it in June and it arrived in August was $695. That is what I will be getting back.
The increase you are talking about was in the dealer invoice.
There were two increases. That is how it was explained to me by the general manager.

No MSRP price increase. Did you read the post I reference in the thread from Dave @ Kerbeck. The price increase was on the dealer's price, not dealer invoice. Dealer price is what they pay to GM, not dealer invoice.

If you can't get to the referenced link on the forum, this is what he said. Many can validate that it is exactly what happened. If you had a price increase, it wasn't from MSRP.

GM has announced a price increase on the 2016 Corvette, but it's different than what you've seen in the past.

The MSRP has remained the same, but they have increased the dealer's cost on both the model and the options!

If you had an order in before 07/17/15, you are price protected.

How will this affect pricing? Even though the MSRP is the same, you will see less discount from the dealer for the dealer to make the same amount. GM Supplier and GM Employee Pricing will now be higher.

If you buy a car for a certain amount over invoice/cost, it will now be higher.

In my 22 years here, this is the first time I've seen GM take away dealer markup from the Corvette. Over the years I've seen them take it away from every car except Corvette and Cadillac and then they took it away from every Cadillac except Escalade.

Obviously, the 2016 Corvettes that are already on the ground or invoiced will not be effected and neither will any of the remaining 2015s, but going forward you will start seeing much smaller discounts off of MSRP.

Dave

This is exactly the situation. No change in MSRP, only a change in dealer cost or discounts based on MSRP (supplier, employee, etc.). For supplier pricing, the difference ranges from 1500 to 1900 depending on trim level and options.

The MSRP went up $400 on the base model 7/17/2016.

No. See below. First is part of the 2016 pricing guide that came out before any 2016's were even built.

Below is a screen grab from Corvette's web site.

Please notice that the MSRP's are exactly the same. (On the first you need to add the destination charge, which is automatically happening on the web site).

Please provide data that proves where you are seeing the $400 price increase so other new buyers are not confused. The data above is accurate.

Furthermore, I bet someone that bought a 1LT and got it before 7/17 could scan their window sticker to match the first image on this post.

At any rate, there is no MSRP increase on the 2016's.

I ordered a 2016 Z06 on June 25th. The quoted price was $92,780 including shipping.

There was a price change/increase on July 17th.

The car arrived August 19th.
The sticker price is $93,975.
Increase of $695.

Yes, dealer price increased. Not MSRP. Not sure what "quoted price" really means. The dealer costs went up around 2%-3%, which would have netted out much more than $695 delta.

I understand the increase you are talking about.
The increase I am talking about is in the price the dealer quoted me and the sticker price of the car when it arrived. This $92,780 price was probably the price of a 2015 Z06 at the end of the run. The price changed after my order was placed.
Again, this is how it was explained to me.
I didn't want to get into this but I did the same thing one year ago.
I ordered a 2015 early and there was a price increase after that.
The car arrived with the new price on the sticker.
The dealer refunded me the difference of the protected price and the new price on the sticker which I think was around $1,000.
This might be different than what is going on now but time will tell.
