I just purchased my 2015 and I love it. I was wondering if there is any secret to making a received text display on the screen?

you mean the actual text/wording, or just the notification? Mine notifies me in the DIC with an option to listen or dismiss. I've never seen it spell the whole thing out.

Why would you want to take your eyes off the road to read it, when you can have it read to you??

Page 75 of the infotainment manual implies that a text message may be displayed and/or read aloud. Is that not the case? Never tried it myself.

I don't receive notification, or an option for the actual text spelled out or read. In the settings it is set for notifications.

You have to insure that notifications are turned on for the Bluetooth setting on your phone. For the IPhone, go to Bluetooth and then hit the exclamation point for the "my Chevrolet " device and insure notifications is turned on.

Thanks for the info. Going to have to read up on my DD (2015 Impala) and see if it will work on that car.

I'm going to probably gather a ration here, but GET OFF THE PHONE IF YOU ARE DRIVING. OR IF YOU WANT TO PHONE, GET OFF THE ROAD.

Studies show that there really is no such thing as multitasking , only switching awareness.

Anyone following someone driving erratically can usually spot a phone user.

Lisa is right.

I got hit by a driver on his phone. Both femurs, arm, and ankle bone sticking out of the skin, shattered knee caps, crushed right foot, a broken neck and more... Lisa is right, don't text and drive

holy crap nolove10! You are lucky to be alive. How long ago? The pain must have been excruciating. Are you ambulatory ? How do you drive a C7?

If there's ever been a single more convincing example of why not to text and drive I can't imagine it!

on another note the 16's have phone link for voice texting and voice text answering. Of course the drop down screen is cool and its for your phone so you "don't" use it and only use voice commands. Still unsafe I am sure but not more then changing the radio station or switching on the wipers for me.
But I certainly agree with folks about using your phone for texting while driving,,,,, its just unsafe to be looking down and typing etc.... TOO many kids are getting hurt and even killed because of phone use

Thanks Buf. Ya, I am crazy lucky to be alive. I got hit by a Ford f250 that crossed over double yellows and hit me (head on) at freeway speed. The accident reconstructionist told me that 99.9% fatal was 3 impact ratings below mine.

This happened June 19th 2013. I was in pretty incredible shape at the time, but can not take any of the credit. That belongs to rescue workers and doctors. 22 surgeries (over 100 hours) 10 days in the ICU, more than a month in the hospital. A doctor said I may never walk again, but I have been for over a year now.

I did not mean to hi-jack this thread. Hopefully I provided some motivation to figure out how to use the hands-free text message system in the vette right away!

I check my rear view mirror to see if the driver in back of me is looking down a lot. If they are I immediately change lanes to get away from them. If I'm on a two lane road I will pull to the side of the roads till they go by.

If the infotainment system is on, my 2015 will tell me I have a text and let me listen to it while driving, but will not display the words to read on the infotainment screen until I am at full stop. Pretty smart. I wish it would let me respond via voice command. Anyone figure out a work around to do that with an iPhone?
