Have you gone into settings and put it in performance mode to keep the NPP open for most of the time(but not all the time)? I know it still closes up at certain RPM's but those may be the ones where you are hearing the drone while it stays open just cruising around at lower speeds.

In a manual trans car if you are in 6 or 7 with the window open no issue at all. In fact I drove 65 miles on the hi way (lot of elevation going north) in 6 gear with the windows up on a cool morning, it was delightful. Have had the fuse pulled for 4 months. No sure how a automatic car would be.

I had 42 pulled until I put LT headers on. Then it was a matter of practicality. I leave for work at 6 AM and without 42, I would wake my neighbors. With 42 in, and in race mode, the exhaust opens at ~1700 rpm. It also helps when passing a police car as putting it in Touring quiets it down nicely.

I've gotten so used to it I now that I know the valves opens at 39 mph in 4th gear

I wouldn't put the fuse back at all I liked how NPP sounded on my c6's and I like how it sounds on the c7.

If you want to be able to turn it off and on at will, just use a switch to control fuse 42.

Why not install a switch to put fuse 42 in and out with the touch of a wireless remote or Homelink (on 2LT/3LT)?

I think that thing is useless, why would you need another fob when you can just have a switch in the car for cheaper.

I pulled the fuse about 6 months ago, two highway trips 1400 kms round trip and didn't find the "drone" annoying at all, but I like my music loud when I drive also one trip was with the top off all the way so wind noise drowned out any drone.

i also pulled it and put it back in.

IMO it wasnt enough to keep the fuse out. If the car got a lot louder, then maybe.

Pulled the fuse 2 weeks ago and love it. Not really bothered by so called drone on the highway, really pretty mellow at a steady speed.

I have a 16 a8. Coming from 15 7spd. It's programmed for track mode but it's quiet as hell compared to the previous stick because runs lower r's. Is there any mechanical or electrical downside to pulling the fuse?

It got in my head...I like the way it gets loud when it wants to and soft when it should. It was super easy as mods go.

No issues with pulling the fuse, but with an A8 you'll find the car gets quiet a lot of the time. Even with the fuse pulled.

Unless you're in manual shift mode, the A8 will go into 4 cylinder mode frequently. And when it does, a second set of valves (generally called the AFM valves) close part way, independently of the NPP valves. When they close, the exhaust gets quieter. Even with the NPP fuse pulled.

And no, you can't pull the fuse for the AFM valves without throwing a code.

Unless I was told wrong, the AFM valves will at least partially close anytime in V4 primarily to keep the Corvette exhaust from sounding like a 4 cyl engine. Mine's a 2014 A7 and I've learned to remove the quite mode with my right foot (and quite successfully) LOL. Actually when on the highway I'm starting to like the quite so I can enjoy the sound system. I have sound management turned 'off' and usually use sport mode. If I want to hear it all for some reason (passing a Porsche) I just pull the lever to M (manual) and V4 will turn to V8 constant along with the exhaust baffles in the mufflers staying open.

So you don't have run a wire through the firewall and dash and drill a switch hole. Whole wireless circuit can be removed in 30 seconds with no trace of it having been there.

use the remote fob mild to wild system and simply program it to your homelink. Want it on hit the button, want it off hit another button. Use the middle button for your garage and walla. Best of all worlds. simple install takes about 45 minutes. jussayin

Where did you find a mild to wild system for the C7? My understanding is the m to w created for the C6 does not work in the C7. While the fuse size is different, the fact that it needs to sit in the fuse box in the engine compartment makes remote operation a problem.

I have seen home made switches but nothing like the m to w.

I decided to leave the fuse in place. I like having exhaust tied in with the mode, especially for my early morning startups!

Default Exhaust valve control via Home-Link

I discovered this morning that the wireless exhaust circuit I posted can easily be operated through the built in Homelink in 2LT/3LT Corvettes. One button opens rear exhaust valves and another gives exhaust valve control back to the car computer.

No there isn't any problem the rear valves just stay in the open position all the time.

You will have a problem if you disable the front valves then the car will throw a code.(if you do pull both and set a code it go's away after a few stops and starts so don't let it disturb you.)

Personally I like the sound on the highway, if I don't want noise all I do is let up on the fuel pedal that stops the so called noise, it isn't noise to me.
