C7 vs Z07
If you are looking for a daily driver and weekend fun car, the basic Stingray is a really fantastic choice and one that doesn't break the bank. The Z51 upgrade is inexpensive, so it may not be a big deal one way or another to you, but it may improve resale for guys who want to track or mod the car. Spend your Stingray money on the features that are important to the way you want to use the car. For non-track guys, the Z06 is basically a toy we can afford to play with. The Z06, as a daily driver, is serious overkill. Buy it if you can afford it but don't make family sacrifices for a car you will rarely (if ever) drive as it was meant to be driven. That extra $25-30K or so might be better spent elsewhere. Just my 2c.
Question about the Mag Ride. Does it have the same affect with either the Z51 and the Non-Z51? Does it make the car smoother to ride on in daily driving conditions?
Thanks,
Dale

That being said, I have not driven a Z51.

As a daily driver, do not get the Z06. You will get much better gas mileage with the LT1 motor and the daily driving experience will be about the same. Other options on the Stingray are purely preference. Get what you want.

Virtually everything on my C6 Z06 cost more to maintain than my C6 Vert.
Tires wear the same and oil changes are the same. Brake pads are more though. Even insurance was little difference.

The z06 will drop a lot slower there less cars and more demand.
I was drawing from my experience maintaining my C6 base, and my Z06, and with 35,000 miles on my C7 Z51 which I have found to be similar cost-wise to the Z06; every point I made was true, oil changes were much more expensive and often, my tires on the base lasted much longer. I saw no difference in insurance costs between them, however.
I've had all three as DDs, so I'm the last one to say you should not get the "higher performance" end, just consider all aspects.
I am looking at a configuration very close to that of the OP but would like a Z06 if I could swing it when I come into the market in late spring.

If there were the same discounts on the Z06 as there were on the C7's I would have moved to a Z06. However, the C7 Z51 is a boatload of fun!
