Backup camera guidelines

But some may not know that the image from the backup camera can be set to show lines on the screen that indicate how much space there is between you and an object behind. On my '15, the guidelines were turned off by default. If yours aren't on, you can turn them on on the infotainment screen:
- On the infotainment system, press the Settings screen button, or turn the MENU **** to highlight Settings and press MENU.
- Select Rear Camera.
- Select Guidance Lines and then select Off or On
Further back, the first full width line is about 35" behind the rear bumper.
The next line is about 82" behind the car.
These distances may vary slightly from car to car, depending on the alignment of the camera. I didn't bother to measure any further than these two lines, as I don't really care what's 10 or 12 feet back when I'm in reverse.
On the infotainment system, press the Settings screen button, or turn the MENU **** to highlight Settings and press MENU.
Select Rear Camera.
Select Guidance Lines and then select Off or On

So no excuse for not reading the manual.

I am having a tough time figuring out distance and width on the front cameras. Does anyone have any tips for these?
I did find it sort of handy when I was in my garage, already in my parking spot, to not touch the bumper on my parts cabinet that is directly behind my parking spot.
That so far is the only use I found for the backup camera, I have had a backup cameras on a few cars since 2013.
I would switch them off if I could.
