Default Programming New FOB Problem

Did the following programming for a new FOB I purchased. After the DIC displays "ready for remote #3" I place the new FOB in the steering column and press start but nothing happens to the new remote and no verification on the DIC of programming.

Any ideas?

Programming with a Recognized
Transmitter

A new transmitter can be
programmed to the vehicle when
there is one recognized transmitter.
1. The vehicle must be off and both
the recognized and new
transmitters must be with you.
2. Remove key base from
recognized RKE transmitter.
3. Place the recognized transmitter
in the cupholder.
4. Insert the vehicle key into the
key cylinder above the license
plate.
5. Open the hatch/trunk.
6. Turn the key five times within
ten seconds.
7. The DIC displays READY FOR
REMOTE # 3 or 4, up to 8.
8. Place the new transmitter in the
steering column transmitter
pocket with the buttons facing up
and the base toward the opening
facing the passenger side.
9. Press the ENGINE START/
STOP button.
10. The DIC displays READY FOR
REMOTE # 4 or 5, up to 8.
11. Press unlock button on each newly
programmed transmitter to
complete the process.
12. To program additional
transmitters, repeat Steps 8-11.
Press and hold the ENGINE
START/STOP button for
12 seconds if programming is
complete.
Return the key base back into
the RKE transmitter.

Only thing I can think of is the FOB battery. Can't see how battery could be dead though as the remote is only a year old.

Not sure where you bought yours, but I bought one from Ebay from a guy outside of Bowling Green KY who sold me a Japanese frequency fob by mistake. I had same problem as you. The car would learn fob 3 but would not open doors or trunk or complete the verification process but it took up the fob 3 position. When I received the USA version fob, it then took up the fob #4 space and verified correctly. Open your new fob and on the inside of the plastic look at the frequency and compare it to your good working fobs. If they are different ie. 315 MHz vs 434 Mhz there is your issue. The 434MHz is for the US version fob.

You have the wrong FOB. There are different FOB models for coupe verses vert which do look different, and evidently also auto vs. manual which look identical from the outside. I went through the same issue. Look here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...t-numbers.html

What they said.

Also, this link has plenty more ideas as to what to watch for while programming.

Thanks for the reply guys. So I opened up both remotes and found the new remote to have the same 434Mhz & same part number as the original 22779880. Only difference I see is 37/13 vs 17/14, don't know what those numbers mean. By the outside buttons they are both for Auto Coupe, as they both have the remote start(manual doesn't) and no vert button. Here are some pics. I changed the battery also and nothing.

Do I have a defective remote? I followed the programming instructions perfectly and tried over 20 times with same result.

Ok about to give up on this. I tested the steering column slot to make sure it was working. Used #3 in these manual instructions(pic below). After key turns the display stated ready for remote 3. I put the original FOB in the column, every direction possible, but it would never state "known remote" as stated in the manual. This shows me that the column slot was not working properly.

So to test the column slot again I took out the battery of the original FOB and put it in the column slot to see if the car will start. It started! So that shows me that the column is working. Completely stumped. I feel like I'm doing something wrong, but I followed the manual to the "T" multiple times, and nothing.

Time to return it and ask for a refund or another fob. Did you get it from the dealer?

I got it off of eBay. But I almost feel like it's a column issue or a DIC issue as the column is not reading the good FOB as "known remote" as it should per the manual. I should probably just take it to the dealer and stop messing with it.

If you can't get step 4 to work, I'd have the car checked. It should acknowledge your working RKE.
