The first time I tried a WOT entering the interstate I almost S**T my pants. I was in Sport Mode with the exhaust sound in Track. Car accelerated like a rocket with the exhaust screaming. Shifted a couple times and I was up to 100 mph in what seemed like only a few seconds. I let off the gas but the RPMS stayed up for a few seconds before the engine finally up shifted into a higher gear. I was a bit concerned until I did some reading and found out this is how GM has programmed the transmission. I need to do it again soon.

Picked up the car this AM and as expected the "expert" transmission tech had no idea what could be causing the problem. Said to bring it back if it did it again. Tried to explain what I've learned here about the performance shift in touring and track mode but got the deer in the headlights look so I let it go.

'15 Z51 A8. I know exactly what you're talking about. What a KICK!!! Speed limit was 75mph and I got to 95mph, real quick. Backed off real quick, too. Seemed to shift ok. I was in Sport Mode. NO DPS waiting. Whew!!

I have a 2015 2LT A8. Previously, I had a 2012 A6. I've read so many comments about how quickly the A8 shifts, but frankly, I just don't see it. The A6 in sport mode would chirp the tires when shifting from first to second. The A8 seems to have some sort of hesitation almost as though the fuel shuts off momentarily. In fact I seem to recall reading something about this being a normal shift for the A8. Either way, from a "seat of the pants" perspective the 1 to 2 shift in sport mode on the A6 sure seemed to be a lot faster than the same shift on the A8. What am I missing?
