I like the automatic headlights but I am not real fond of the rear view mirrors getting dark.
How do I keep the automatic headlights but lock the rear view mirrors in the daytime mode ?
They aren't linked. The sensor for the headlights is on the dash and the sensor for the mirrors is in the rearview mirror (see link below) As long as a bright light is shown directly into the sensor on the RearView mirror, the mirrors will darken, even if the headlights aren't on, such as in the late afternoon when the sun is shining directly from behind and the top is down. There is no switch to disable, unfortunately.
I disabled mine by putting a "dot" over the sensor. Since I posted this "fix", I bought some more elegant dots from Light Dims.com. I bought a sampler pack that contains a few different light-blocking levels, a white set and a silver set. I used the small silver dot to cover the sensor.
