Default Really weird experience

Background: Took my '15 Z51 in for it's 2nd oil change 7,780 miles on Monday, at the same time they were going to install the latest mods to stop the roof from creaking. Told them my Ipod was not operating correctly with the sound system and they said there was a software update and they would install it, so I told them to do it.

End of day 1: They said the update was taking quite some time and they would need it overnight. Day 2, they said they also had to update the "Human Interface Module". Picked up the car at the end of day 2 and all seemed OK, but only drove the car 20 miles or so.

The next day I used it very little, and then last night around 10PM I went to drive home, when I started up I immediately got warnings to "Service Air Bag System", "Service suspension System", "Service Tire Monitor System" and the airbag, tire system and traction control warning lights were on. I had no check engine light so I carefully drove it home, noting that the gauges were not functioning or recording. No speedometer, fuel or temp recordings, though all were lit up. The radio worked fine though

This morning I re-started and everything is back to normal. My wife took it to have coffee with the gals and reported no issues, so perhaps it just had a brain fart? I have a call in to the service manager, but have not talked to him yet. Anybody else experience anything like this?

Nothing like that here. Definitely make note of it with the SM. Personally, I would just keep an eye on it, but if it does it again - in the shop it goes. My guess is that something within the ECM was reset and you'll be fine.

Back in the C6 days, when the car tossed a bunch of codes at you like that, it was the result of a dying or near dying battery. Maybe they drained it over an extended time while doing all the work. So make sure you give it a good charge soon.

I would keep an eye on the battery and make sure it is fully charged. If the lights come back on again, a trip to the dealer would be a good idea.

Yea put a battery charger on it. They may have drained the battery screwing around with the reflash.

OK, so talked to the SM and he has no clue, says he hasn't seen anything like this. Asked me if I want to bring it in, but told him no because it is functioning normally now. The battery voltage was 12.2 just before I started it and the event occurred, that isn't low is it? Not sure what fully charged would be.

I'm guessing it had something to do with the re-flash and possibly reset itself.

Consider buying and using a CTEK MUS 4.3...8 Step....Smart Charger to maintain the voltage levels of the battery.

I have mine connected directly to the 10MM battery posts. You will quickly see that even driving the C7 for an hour or less, when connecting the CTEK MUS4.3, it will take almost 30 minutes to bring the battery back to a full charge.

I have a CTEK smart charger connected to all my sports cars and even my Ford F150. I would not be without one. As you have found out the C7 is loaded with electronics and sensors.

Cost is under $70.00 at Amazon. Buy the CTEK Comfort Extension cord also.

I'm not. With that low reading, it's the battery. I'd get a battery "maintainer" and use it. Soon.

I always keep a battery tender on my sports cars. Cheap insurance.

So I guess it is going on a battery tender from now on. Seems like the consensus is that it was a low battery. Hopefully it was just one time. This is my daily driver and I really don't want the hassle of dealing with the tender, BUT....

Consider buying and using a CTEK MUS 4.3...8 Step....Smart Charger to maintain the voltage levels of the battery.

Here's mine connected just after driving and has only 3 LED's lite up. Tells you the C7 drains batteries. The C7 is fully charged at #7 on the charger.

Second photo shows CTEK MUS 4.3 on LED #7 full charge and now maintaining the battery to proper voltage.

Here's how an 8 step maintainer works.

Check out this information......

Once it's fully charged & healthy again, there's no need for a maintainer if you drive it more than once a week IMO.

It could also be an intermittent connection. They disconnected and reconnected a bunch of components. I had a Cadillac XLR that would trigger messages like "Service Stabilitrak, Airbag, etc". It was related to the telescoping steering wheel going in/out automatically when I got in/out of the car, which stressed a connector to one of the modules. I ended up installing a fifty cent part that they made to hold the connectors together more securely.

I'll keep an eye on it, but it only happened that one time. Fingers crossed.

Supposely the alternator should bring the battery up 100% after driving it
For awhile.

Not to revive an older thread, but this same thing just happened to my '16 this morning. Like the OP after sitting parked for an hour, I re-started it and all seemed fine (although I tried to restart the the car when it first happened and no joy/luck in resetting anything).

Most of you seem to think its battery related, but I drive my car often, and although it has been sitting for the past 2-3 days (and not on the battery tender) I drove it to work (14 miles, 20-25 minutes) BEFORE this happened and no issue. And have never had an issue even if parked without te tneder for a week or so. Before this happened it was parked at the office for maybe 20-30 minutes before I went out again to an appointment and that when all the bells and whistles went off.

Any other thoughts other than battery?

Although I did find it curious that when I took my suit jacket out of the trunk (right before this happened) it was unusually warm and it was laying on the right hand side floor of the trunk/hatch area (above the battery?)

I already have an previously scheduled appointment next Tuesday for an oil change, the performance and Ventilated Seat update TSB and a fix for my rattling rear targa latch, so I will definitely ask the Technician to check for codes, etc.) but always feel its better to check with the Faculty here before taking it in...

Thanks!

If it is a daily driver, the alternator should keep the battery charged. If not, then you may have an alternator problem. If the car has been starting every day with no slow crank issues, don't worry about it.
