Is the selling of GM points a legit way to lower the price? There are posts here offering to sell points. Has anyone done this and been successful? What personal info must be provided to the cardholder?
Thanks for any help.

I'd be interested to know if there is a legit way to sell them as well... I have over 3000 that I won't be using anytime soon.
I've used other peoples points in the past, some trust involved. You have to add the person to your card and not have a card issued for them. Give them the code so the dealer can enter the info. I've paid up to $.50 on the dollar for points and it works. I'm actually in the market for a new truck and would consider doing it again.
I gave points to my daughter and had to add her to my card before the points could be used, but it worked. I agree with the trust factor if selling to an unknown person. I guess you could add and then remove but if you don't or can't then a card will come in their name when you get your new one every 3 years. As in anything, evaluate risk vs reward.
You need to put the person on your account as a authorized user
The new car will come to your address with the new users name on it
The new user can then use the points after the card is activated
Then work out the money details with the new user You can then remove them after they use the points
I just did this for someone for a Acadia I haven't removed the new user yet very trust worthy person not really worried about it
Also you could do it all over the phone takes about 7 baseness day to get the new card
Good luck

When you add the buyer as an authorized user on the account, you are given the option of whether to order a new card with their name. You do not have to order the card, and I recommend you dont.
It takes about 24 hours for GM Card Services to update the account with the new user's information.
It may or may not matter, but I'll mention it anyway...
I someone is added to your credit card account, such as an authorized user..., or ANY credit type account, your credit information for that account will wind up in the credit report of the person added.

Just sayin...
Yea that's why you have to be careful who you add.In my case it wasn't a issue the person has good credit so it wasn't a issue I had no intention of using the points anytime soon
Great points everyone... I am reluctant to get involved with someone I don't know and who is very new to this forum and has not had many (or any) posts. Gotta be careful these days... there are so many scams out there. I get them everyday in my junk mail folder.
