It just doesn't work very well? Or m7 doesn't have it? I still want to play with it =p
I believe all M7's have it but read your manual for your model. You can download manuals in PDF format for easy searches while at your PC at ummmm work hehe. I just don't think the L/C on M7's is very effective. There are plenty of youtubes about it as well https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#t...launch+control
Track mode; push center console button twice. Mash the brake (hard like emergency stop); mash the gas quickly to floor; let stabilize at 1800 or so and POP the brake!! It works great!! First time I tried it I got a 4.5 0-60. After couple tries on different days I was consistent at 4.1/4.2 -- bets time a few weeks ago in cool weather 3.8.
I have a M7 Z06, how hard is this to do with the manual? I watched the video on it and it seems a bit scary, as If for some reason it does not work, your screwed. Can some one explain this for a M7 in simple terms like the guy above did please, thank you.......
Put in in Track Mode
Press button in middle of Mode dial twice
1st gear, clutch in
Press hard on brake
Accelerator to floor
Dump clutch and hang on, get ready for **** to 2nd
Remember that launch control doesn't work in 2nd and those with Z06 can spin up the tires and lose control

OK so when shifting to second, is there any traction control on at all ? If not, hell with that, I will just use normal traction control on and do the best I can, only slips for a second any way.
On a M7 manual trans car, you do not have to press hard on the brake.
If you do this with warm tires on a warm prepped 1/4 mile track, you don't have to worry about loosing it on the 1-2 shift, the car will bite hard enough and not spin out. Besides the split second you feel a slight wiggle in the 1-2 shift just lift and the car straightens out immediately.
I was very hesitant earlier on but, after a few times, learned to have a blast with it...best thing in the world with an unsuspecting passenger beside you.
More importantly though, it is a great tool to understand the technology that goes into the car and you get a first hand feel when a tire starts to slip and the car compensates.
Biggest mistake I see consistently, and learned first hand is....no matter what you don't let up on the gas because, if you do, Launch Control disengages and you lose all the benefits that come with it. Even if it breaks pavement, hold the peddle down and let the Z do its job.

Pretty interesting that those tires didn't spin until second clicked in... What gets me though (and I have watched this a thousand times) is that he never counter-steered when he felt the left slippage. It is almost like he steered it right into the trees. My wheels have spun a million times in 35 years of driving and it just seems natural to counter-steer and let up on the gas. Oh and do NOT brake in correcting...see the brakes hit when the back end goes?
We are all capable of such mistakes though. I remember years a go not realizing the amount of stone on a roadway until it was too late. Who do you think made the stupid mistake of applying my front brakes on the motorcycle? Was just a stupid reaction and valuable learning curve. Still remenber getting up and showing my riding partner the clearly visible forearm bone sticking out.
So...can we guess that Launch Control is not active in second gear and never compensated for him...although he might have believed it still was?

A example of a person that doesn't know how to drive and has slow or no reflexes to what the car is doing. Person also has a numb butt meter, no sensation to what the car is doing.
The proud owner of that video has fessed up on this forum somewhere. He had all the nannies off, hit second and without traction control, well you can see.
