Wow. The article is nothing short of an indictment of GM QC. While I would concede that this many issues in one car is probably an anomaly, there is still much to think about here. I love my C7, which has had some common issue (roof, infotainment) and not so common (oil ingestion), but as much as the performance helps me overlook these issues, I can't help but feel that there is room for improvement. All of this said, I would buy my car again and the writer comments are bang on... you never want to stop driving this car.
Remember it was also a first year redesign (2014) so it normally would have more problems than normal. Hopefully most of those issues have been addressed.
OK, can't overlook a lot of the things they mentioned though I can say that not one of those things every happened to me. Of course it had 7,800 miles on it when I got it, and it may be that anything major that was going to go wrong would have already done so for the previous owner?
A couple of things I thought were a little unfair to include:
1. Rock chip on the windshield
2. Punctured rear tire...both of these fall into the "stuff happens" category and
3. Replaced front tires t 31000. 31K miles is actually quite good for a high performance tire on this type of car.
Also, let's not forget that all that drove it weren't paying for anything...they just beat the hell out of it, of that I am sure. GM has resolved many of those issues as is proven by my '15's 15,500 miles and having never been in the shop, except for oil changes.
I really think that it was bad luck and nothing other than that, the car is great.
Had I read that before I bought my car I may have had second thoughts...but I still would have gotten it. I just love the C7, I got hooked when they presented it to the public. Oh, well. What are you going to do?
