I have always loved Corvettes and was hoping to get one in a year or so now that I am retired and can afford the insurance. Been reading posts for a week or so and pretty much came to the conclusion that Vettes are not as nice as they look with all the problems. It is nice to see a thread where people actually say how much they enjoy them.
Read the posts on this thread. There are people who complain about every little thing, and there are people who make up or exaggerate to get attention, or are just jealous. This is my sixth Corvette, and I loved everyone one of them, NEVER had a serious problem, yeah has some small issue, but all were fixed. All I can say is, unless you buy one you will never know. He who hesitates is lost.
Nice to read a positive thread. Just checked the longterm weather forecast. Supposed to be 65 on Christmas Day so I may well be taking a nice long drive on Dec. 25th. I plan to try and drive my C7 all winter if the roads are clear.
And what is wrong with Global Warming ? it's been going on for the last 10,000 years! Too bad i pulled my insurance!
Living in South Carolina, I get to drive my C7 more often throughout the year than folks living in other places. That to me is a blessing. In fact, I plan to take her to work this coming Weds and if it warms up as much as they say, I will be powering the top down for the 35 minute ride home....
I'm not sure why so many people let work get in the way. April through November I drive the C7 to work at least two days a week.
And, with no snow to run the winter toys on, I'm sort of thinking I jumped the gun putting the C7 to bed the first week of December. Oh well.
I would be getting a late model C3 or a C4. That is all I could probably afford. I like the old Corvettes.
The best C4 is the 1996, especially the LT4 version. I had the Collector Edition, Coupe, and loved it. By the last year all the bugs were out of it, at the LT4 is a hot rod of an engine.
C3 I would not buy between the years 1973 and 1977, when the 78 came out they had a cross injected engine, and it had many issues, to me again the best year for the late C3 is the 1982, Collector Edition.
What ever you buy, it will bring a smile to your face...
Any Corvette would bring a smile to my face. Always liked them but when we visited my Uncle in 1970 and he collected Vettes I really fell in love. Then got to ride in one of his and I was hooked for life. Never have been in one since. Wanted to buy one in 1978 but the insurance was just to high, so I settled for a 280z. Which I loved, but it wasn't a Vette. A Corvette has always been my dream car.
I even go as far to find a reason to drive it randomly during the day. Everytime i look at this car the thought comes in my head "wow i cant believe this car is mine".
I think this is common to all new Corvette owners, regardless of the model generation.
I am Always thankful that I can drive my C7. It is the best car I have ever owned. Love driving the car and smile each and every time I take a long trip or a short trip. Just plain fun, fun, fun, fun.
I have a sick obssession when i see another corvette driving by. I will speed up or slow down just to get a better look and wave. Corvette is definetly a pristege symbol in my eyes. So look out if you see me ill pull up next to you to say hi
Because of work, and several other higher priorities in my daily life; I have not had the chance to drive my Stingray much since Carlisle. It's been sitting in the garage, covered up and put aside for a few month, as I have to deal with life. Mainly work, and getting a major project finished at home, taking up almost all my spare time.
So my Corvette Club had a Meeting Breakfast, of which I decided to go, and being the 70's on Saturday. So I decided to drive the car.
Go into the car, pushed the ignition, and it came to life, the motor sounded great, adjust the seats, and took a short second or so, just to give thanks that I am able to have one of these wonderful cars.
Wife and I drove off, and I felt as if I was on top of the world. I was just a great feeling to drive and enjoy every single bit of this car. Even go to put down the top, as it was over 70 degrees by noon.
Look, don't want to sound mushy, but in many ways all of us who own any year Corvette, are very fortunate people....just thought I would mention this...just feel fortunate... I read so much negative stuff, not saying its not warranted, but sometimes it just as good to post something positive about our Corvettes....
Yes, I agree. Life is good. If you own a vette, you have something to be grateful for.
