So, I finally got the dealer to check this out for me. According to them, it's working the way it should. ...ohhhkayyy... But, they showed me that the switch can be accessed and unplugged. Here's photos:
I'm using a paint can opener tool.
I've inserted the business end of the paint can opener into the space just under the switch housing.
The housing will pry out.
Disconnect the plug from the switch...
...shove the cable into the hole...
...pop the switch back in. And voila, no more trunk switch!
My 2015 M7 won't open the trunk unless the parking brake is on, or the car turned off. I was trying to open the trunk one night so my son could get something out of it, in the pouring rain, and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't open. I've never hit that button with my knee, either.
Someone needs to make a stick on raised bezel frame to go around that goofy button to make it more recessed. 1/8 of an inch is all it needs.
.
Black and white,
I was thinking the same thing about the trunk button. my knee hits it a lot I am 6'3. maybe there is some can of bezel out there to enclose it enough for not to hit it.
