Can't say I care much for the location of the interior trunk release switch. Twice now my knee has pressed it while waiting at a stop light. (I'm 6'3" and my seat is all the way back.) Looks goofy to have to get out and close the trunk in traffic.
Does anyone know of a way to disable the switch by pulling a fuse or ???.
If nothing else, I'll have to try to get to the back of the switch and pull off its connector. Has anyone already done this?
6'4" and have never hit that button getting in or out. Do you put you right leg in first and slide down the seat or use the sit and spin method? (I use the second.)
But I find that it is easy for me to turn on the turn signal with my elbow when getting out.
Does the trunk release button work while the car is in gear - I have tried pushing mine while driving and it doesn't do anything...not sure if I have ever tried it while stopped at a light though

This has been posted many times and I totally agree. Even when conscious of the problem I still manage to bump it. I'm 6'2" and have the seat back all the way as well. I do the 'sit & spin' entry and most times hit the damn switch when I'm already in and just adjusting my driving position...
Geee...I don't have a problem hitting that switch BUT almost every time I drive my 16 Vert my left knee hits the door button and pops open the door. I tried moving the seat one way or another but I always end up in the same place and BINGO my knee hits it.....
According to the owner's manual, the car must be stopped and if the car is automatic, it must be in PARK in order for the trunk release button to work -- and if the car is a manual shift, the car must be stopped and the parking brake set -- or the ignition must be off to have the button release.
Do you really meet any of these requirements while sitting at a stop light?

Today I was sitting in traffic at a light. The manual was out of gear; clutch out; foot on brake; engine running. Knee hit button...pop!

The button should not work unless the car is in P (auto) or the parking brake is engaged (man).

How does that happen with the door locked? Do you drive around with the doors unlocked? The doors automatically lock when driving, and the car has to be in P (auto) or the engine off (man) to be able to open the doors. You can also press the unlock button before opening the door while in gear and running.
SD Dave --- were you by any chance sitting on a hill and/or incline when this occurred?
The reason I ask -- on a hill or incline with your foot on the brake, "hill assist" might kick in and I believe it sets the "electric brake" or what we commonly call the parking brake and thus the trunk button may have been fooled into believing the e-brake was set.

That's a good observation but, no, it was on a level street when it happened. BTW, I went out in the driveway and tried it with car in gear, out of gear, clutch in, clutch out, ...the button works every time.
Someone needs to make a stick on raised bezel frame to go around that goofy button to make it more recessed. 1/8 of an inch is all it needs.
.
Yes, or maybe there's a way to pop out the plastic insert where (on my car) the mirror adjustment is. With that out, I think one could get to the back of the switch to remove its connector.

Reason: dash light dimmer knob - wrong!
