That may be because nobody makes a FAT32 SD card larger than 32G. That doesn't mean you can't format one larger if you have the correct software. Problem is getting software on your PC that won't kill the SD card which is what happened to me. Read the descriptions and ratings of several format packages and bought one. I installed the software and started formating the disk. Half way through I got a notification of a problem and the disk is no longer readable by anything.
I downloaded a freeware software and formatted a couple of 64s with no issues at all. Your's is the first I have heard of having an issue. Maybe it was a problem with the card not the software. I would contact the manufacturer for a replacement card.
