Default Engine noise

Car now has about 700 miles on it and runs great and exhaust sounds bad azz with NPP but the actual engine noise does sound very mechanical and I know the fuel pump is probably some of it or the special lifters that operate the V4 mode.
Kinda sounds like a solid lifter engine which I know it isn't.

I will have to hear another LT1 to compare but what do you guys think?
Are your engines a little more noisy?

Mine has 500 on it, and I just happened to be listening to it today after my break-in oil change, while I was letting it warm up, and it struck me as very quiet. If it is ticking noticeably loud, I would take it in and have it checked. No harm in being over protective!

DI engines typically makes sounds that are described as sounding like a sewing machine. This is completely normal for DI engines and is due to the very high pressure fuel pump and injectors (2000+ PSI).

Absolutely correct. Put the pedal to the metal and enjoy it!

Drove my uncle's c7 and it sounds like a hybrid compare to mines. I have this loud clicking noise in v8 and its not the injectors. Going to have to bring it in soon.

High pressure fuel injectors make a clicking noise very similar to tappet noise.

FYI...........

Engine, Fuel System - Various Noises During Engine Operation 2014 Chevrolet Corvette

Corporate Bulletin # 14-06-04-004B: Various Engine Noises During Cold Start and Warm Engine Operation - (Jul 8, 2014) (PARTIAL BELOW)

Subject: Various Engine Noises During Cold Start and Warm Engine Operation

Information For Why New Engine Technologies Are Generating Noises

The high pressure fuel system does have unique operating characteristics, in particular the noise emanating from the high pressure fuel pump can result in a subtle ticking noise that is apparent when the vehicle is idling. The sound is more evident when outside around the vehicle, when the hood is open or the vehicle is operated in a drive-through. The sound may be more noticeable during a cold start, but lessens once the engine is warm. A slightly higher pitched clicking sound is the fuel injectors pulsing ON and OFF under the high fuel pressures. These sounds are a normal characteristics of the DI high pressure fuel system.

Just for the record, there is NO break-in oil! If you have a dry sump (Z51 or Z06) at the end of 2014 (15 months after I got my Z51) GM indicated the original standard Mobil 1 oil be replaced at 500 miles to eliminate the "possibility" of oil foaming "if" the car was "operated at high rpm." That is to stop oil foam "burping" with the air that comes from the dry sump tank. It can cause that "burped oil" to drip from the air cleaner. No such requirement or suggestion for a wet sump.
The reason for this post, is a higher likelihood of that happening, IMO, with an "overfilled" dealer oil change!
Checking oil levels in a dry sump is a bit more complex than a wet sump. Read the Owner's Manual, follow the directions and check yours. Best if you check the hot oil 5 minutes after the engine is shut off and definitely NOT after 10 minutes or you'll get a false low reading. If it's above the MAX fill line, suggest bringing it back to the dealer and have it filled to the proper level! They can do that when you bring it back to have the "noise checked," which they will tell you, "it's normal!" FWIW

Hi Jerry,
I'm not sure where all this came from, but thanks?

I wasn't trying to imply that there is some special break-in oil, I merely said that I changed my oil at the required 500 mile break-in interval, as a time reference, since his has similar mileage. I also wasn't implying that this oil change had anything to do at all with his “mechanical” noise, all I was saying is mine is very quiet.

I’m not sure where all the business about checking the oil level fits in to this, since my reply had nothing to do with oil levels, but I understand how to check the oil, and the level is perfect. Thanks for your concern.
