I had to make the same decision as you, after I carefully and thoroughly evaluated and drove both cars.
I chose a 2016 C7 Z51 3LT M7, MSRC, comp seats, machined wheels, etc. Roughly 80k MSRP. (Yes, I would rather have a fully loaded 3LT Z51 than a stripper 1LZ Z06 for street driving)
While the M4 is an awesome car, overall I feel as if the "excitement factor" doesn't quite match up to the C7, along with several other reasons...

You made a good choice, not sure how well you can see it in this photo, but that is my Dinan 650i in the driveway next to my Abarth. I have owned a lot of BMW's but for me they stopped being sports cars and became GT cars. Congrats and enjoy!
Ordered a VR Coupe 7MT Z51 Magnetic ride 2LT and a crap load of stuff with black wheels 😁😁😁😁
Put a deposit and made sure the inventory manager had the allocation for a Z51 and pulled the trigger!!! 72,800 and some change plus my military discount and since I bought 3 vettes from them before they took care of me.
Excited and looking at build date of mid Feb.
Congratulations! Looking forward to your pics once it arrives.
Thanks again for your service and you made the right choice. BMWs are nice cars, however around where I live, it seems like every HOA hands the keys to a stripped down 3-series sedan with each home purchase. Black, silver and white 3-series are everywhere. I know an M3 is a different class, but it' still a mental hurdle I need to get past.

Now that didn't take long did it. I think the M4 is a great car for someone who needs a sedan, but the corvette to me looks 1000x better, sounds 1000x better and clearly is a blast to drive. Sounds like a nice build, what color?

I ordered mine on the 31st of December, 2014, got picked up by GM on the 10th of Jan. '15, got my TPW on the 20th with a build date of 2/16/15. Was built on the 2/17-18th and delivered on the 3rd of March. At that time I felt that it was pretty fast, considering that I wanted the painted roof, which was on constraint big time.
Hope your's goes as fast...I well remember counting the days!
Long story short, the ONLY reason you should consider the M4 is because you need 4 doors. I already have a Mercedes to transport people if needed, pointless for me to get something in the "same" class in terms of usability.
You should work for Car and DRiver.... your criteria test is much better than theirs!!!

BMW has changed its numbers even are coupes (or fake grancoupes or the x6 what ever that is supposed to be) and odd is sedan, so the four door is still called the M3

That is what I thought... I was replying to this comment:

The only reason to get an M4 is if you need a backseat or you can't get out of the C7. No manual either. My friend has a M4 and I owned a 335D. They are great cars for sure. You are going to be in awe of the C7 having owned all the older Vettes. Good luck.
Been reading different parts of the forum and been finding various problems with the C7
Overheating
Rear diff
Z51 Dry-sump
Oil leaking through valve train
Carbon buildup...
Whatever happened to the legendary LS3 engine??? I never encountered such issues with any of my previous vettes.
I have none of those problems and there are countless more happy owners. The LS3 was a great engine but the LT1 is a step above in performance and refinement.
