The weather was beautiful today, 71 degrees in the wonderful state of Texas so I told the wife, let's take a ride in the Vette. Started it up and changed it to "Touring" mode and proceed on a drive to Dallas.
I have to say, GM did a wonderful job with the Touring Mode. It is such an awesome ride. So, what do you think about Touring mode?
I am on my 2nd Magnetic ride. First a 2011 GS and now my 2014 Z51 with Mag Ride. Love the sound of Sport and steering of Track but to tell you the truth neither I or any passenger can tell the difference in the ride from a purely subjective standpoint. Believe me I want to but just can't.
Funny enough, I have a M7, and for highway driving, I'm starting to just put 'r into ECO mode instead of Tour. For us stick drivers, this is the only way to get into V4 mode.
It started out as a novelty for me, as for the first 60 days, I'm not sure I took my car out of Sport mode. But then, I realized, I'm in traffic, I'm commuting, I'm begging the wife to give me a list of groceries so I can drive the damn thing.
I'm wondering if, for the M7, I'll ever use Tour again. Now it's always ECO or Sport. I like saving gas for my regular terrorist activities in Sport mode.

There's a highway close to my house where a section must be "wavy", won't say bumpy per say. Anytime I think mag ride doesn't make a difference I go there and go from sport (my 100% of the time mode) to track and it gets very apparent. Other then that going from Sport to Touring doesn't make me go wow this rides like a Bentley now.
That surprises me! I can feel a *huge* difference between Tour and Sport. Where I live, there's many overpasses where the highway changes to a cement versus an asphalt (or something like this), but the transition is like a .75 inch edge. In Tour mode, I can barely deal with it, in Sport mode, I panic and hope to god that I can it into Tour/Eco mode before I hit it.
So find a .75 cement edge and hit it as 75mph. You will feel a difference.

Interesting viewpoint. In the beginning I used to see the "4cylinder"" symbol come on but no more. Wonder if I inadvertently switched it off. Nothing in manual about it. Care to make a suggestion?

Well, to get it into crippled mode, you have to meet some criteria. For one, to see it, you have to be in Eco mode with the Information mode on for your D.I.C. I'm almost too immature to talk about your DIC (or your Uranus for that matter).
Anyhoo, get to the info screen that shows your current driving mileage and fuel tank range. this is the only place to confirm it's in V4 mode.
Your engine has to be, I think, above 120 degrees or so (the coolant, not the oil) and you have to be in at least 3rd gear. ECO mode has a very strong affinity for 4th gear.
There's a few other requirements, but ultimately, car has to be somewhat warm, you have to be in 3rd gear or higher, and you have to be looking in the right area of your DIC.
To me, there is a big difference between Sport and Touring. I like them both depending on my mood, I guess. Most of the time I like rock and roll, but sometimes I listen to classic music.

If you can't tell the difference between Tour and Track there is something wrong with your car.

This is my second Vette with magnetic ride, and the second Vette that never comes out of sport mode. I really don't feel the difference between tour and sport anyway.
But as we don't have mag ride the only places where there will be a difference will be throttle progression and steering. Of course if you have NPP the sound will alter a bit.
The last one that I had with mag ride, there was a subtle difference between tour and "comp" as they didn't call it sport back then. All the C7's I've driven with the mag ride I really have a hard time telling if I am in Tour or Sport, Track is pretty easy to tell, ride gets a bit harsh.

I agree, love the touring mode when out with the wife cruising around at night, but other wise its Sport exclusively. haven't given the track mode any time at all, check it out this spring.
The difference between Tour and Sport is night and day. It is like having two different cars. I have an A8, 2016 BTW.
+1
Unless the road is glass smooth I can instantly tell switching the car from tour to sport with a 2016 non-Z51 mag ride. In sport you feel everything, sport to track and you can feel running over bugs it seems. Maybe a Z51 with stiffer bushings and larger way bars the tour-to-sport difference isnt as dramatic.
Be interesting to know if the non-Z51 mag ride shack electronic calibrations are different from the Z51.
I find I leave mine in tour most of the time, getting old I guess
