Mine is in the garage most of the time unless I am washing or waxing it. One neighbor can't stand I have a 60K+ sports car and the others could care less.
I don't have a lot of neighbors, but the neighbor kind of across the street: mother told my wife last fall that every time I start it up her teenagers (boys 17, 16, 13, girl 15) run to the window to watch me leave because they love the car and the way it sounds.
When I wash it in the driveway, a lot of time people out for walks - adults and kids - will stop and ask questions, give complements, etc. A few times kids have said something like 'wow, look, a Ferrari'. Pretty funny. Teenagers often want to take pictures of it, and I always offer to take their picture sitting in the car and stuff. Make lots of friends this way. Also taken a couple of people in the neighborhood for rides, and let a couple of them drive it. Always attract attention, don't they??

About six of our neighborhood boys (8-12 yo) come occasionally to the bottom of our drive and ogle mine saying stuff like, " We have a race track ready Corvette in our subdivision now. How cool is that!"
I always drop into Sport mode when I see them outdoors playing in a yard and give them a rev, a downshift burble and a wave..... I never drive over the posted 25 mph as it looks like it is speeding even when parked.
Surprisingly, several of my neighbors are also car people. One has a '67 Stingray convertible, one a late 60's Chevelle SS with a 427 under the hood, another owned a 911 in England (where he's from). Everyone, even the ones who aren't car people, seem to think it's pretty cool.
Actually, My neighbors have never before expressed any opinions on my cars. But the most frequent comment from my neighbors now is how quiet the Corvette is. I guess that means that they thought my '03 Mustang Cobra with off-road x-pipe was too loud.
All of my neighbors own Accords, Camrys and Sonatas as well as SUV's
I do have one neighbor who has owned high end BMWs , Porches, Ferraris and now a 2011 Bentley Continental GT Speed. None of them have ever seen a racetrack. He occasionally refers to my new Corvette as a 'Chevy" just to get my goat.
I should have mistakenly identified his car as a Chrysler 300, but why bother.
The 98 year old woman on one side could care less. Never mentioned it. The fellow living on the other side thinks it's the coolest thing going. He's always bringing his friends and relatives over to look at it, even after 2 years.
I had a C5 before this so they're all used to seeing a Corvette coming and going. As for buying a new or newer car, over half the homes on our street have a new something or other, usually a pricey pick'em up truck, sitting in the driveway. After I brought the C7 home, the next door neighbor ran out and picked up a new Highlander Limited.
There's a lot of kids on our street and they take turns yelling out "Hey I like your car".
I am going through a divorce so with the wife inhaling most of my paycheck I am living in an area where most people can barely afford a $20k car much less my $100k Z06.
Kids love it, teens admire it, millennials are envious, and the older folks hate me.
I keep it garaged along with my two bikes. And my Mercedes sits outside.
I'm known as the 'car guy' in my neighborhood since I have the 6-car garage that is full. Neighbors aren't really car people but many stop to talk about them when I'm out waxing/detailing. One former neighbor even stopped by after I got the C7 as he figured I'd have one since I have purchased the first year of the last four generations. I drive responsibly in the neighborhood and have taught my sons to do the same. No "green" neighbors that give me the look about my stuff but the manager of a large Toyota dealership lives nearby and I'm sure it bugs him to see nothing but GM in my garage...He has sold vehicles to other neighbors but figures I'm not a candidate for one, and rightly so.
I keep my convertible on "sport" mode all the time. One day my 70 year old next door neighbor stopped by while I was out in the garage detailing the C7s interior. She leaned into the car and said, "You know, I can hear you start this thing up every morning when you leave for work."
I immediately apologized and offered to start the car up in "tour" mode for a quieter exhaust sound.
She stepped back and exclaimed, "You will do no such thing! I LOVE that sound"...
I do ok in my sub-division. Buddies here have a 78 vett, 66 GTO, mustang Saleen, newer hemi challenger, and a couple of Harleys and a bad camero that's worth about 75k.We get along with everybody pretty well. No funny stuff till we get out of the hood.
Funny question.......The young married couple across the street. .....the wife loves it and the husband doesn't talk to me much anymore .....I think for him it's a keeping up with the Jones's thing....my wife and I don't play that game!
