Total first world problem
So I'm getting super close to pulling the trigger on a 16 z51. I've positioned myself in a good place where it will work out nicely.
With that being said, I'm also considering another option and I would like everyone's opinion. I will keep in mind everyone on this website, including me, is bias towards corvettes because they are awesome!
During lunch today I test drove a tesla p90d with ludicrous mode. OMG, I can't tell you have fast that car is. I've owned a c5, two c6's, and driven a 14 c7. I can be honest and tell you that the pure forces that hit you from0-60 is like nothing I've ever experienced. Living in Colorado the elevation really kills normally aspirated engines. The tesla is 761hp all wheel drive and it puts it down. It doesn't care about altitude at all. The tech, autopilot, and power were just amazing!
So here is my first world problem. Probably more like.1 world problem. I love corvettes and think the c7 is one of the nicest cars out there. I'm also 6'7" and know the C5 was the roomiest vet I've owned. The c6 got tighter but I could manage. Then everyone complained about the seats having no side support so they made the seats for people weighing 150#'s. Thank you skinny short people for that one. The 2014 I drove for half a day started to get a little uncomfortable. I was squeezed in the car pretty tight. My knees were against the dashboard with no room. I do know you can disconnect the motor limiter on the seat giving about another inch of legroom which is great, but I'm concerned I'll then run into the problem of having no headroom since the seat will be positioned more vertically.
Are there any tall guys who have experienced this? So, my options are this, get vet, which is awesome by the way!, and keep my 2015 Sierra or sell my Sierra and get a tesla. Two cars or one. Again, poor me.
my Sierra by the way is an amazing truck. It looks great and is very comfortable. It's also nice having the box to haul whatever I want. No worrying about how many suitcases we can haul to the airport. It's also diesel which is awesome for pulling but now I'm selling my travel trailer it's not necessary. Still an awesome truck though. I know the vet can handle, but the tesla wasn't a bad handling car either. The room in the tesla is more than the vet, but it's a sedan. The tax incentives of 13500 credit is really nice too. The tesla doesn't look as sporty though which I like about the vet. I also like an extremely loud rumble. There is nothing like driving through the mountains with the top off and letting it rip through some canyons. The vet doesn't have to wait 30 minutes to recharge to 80% at a super charger 5 times on the way to Vegas. I'll fill up twice and be gone! On the flip side, and I can't believe I'm going to say this given how much I love a big V8, but after driving the tesla I feel like gas engines are outdated. I don't know how to explain it, but the core simplicity of the tesla is really impressive. I never thought I would say that, but once you drive one it's pretty amazing.
I think I'm like 95% certain I'm getting a vet, but should I look at this as a serious option? It's funny but I'm in a weight loss challenge right now with some friends and part of my motivation is so I would fit better in a vet
I'm down 30# so far. Thanks guys for listening! I know I'll be happy no matter what I do.

I had to admit, when they left, and rolled out in total silence, it wasn't inspiring. To be sure, Tesla is fast and sleek and pricey, but its just sort of....there. I wasn't turned on by it at all. Maybe its the future, but I'm very happy to wait.

I am impressed with electric car performance and where I live it is very flat and could get by with the range as a DD. But when you have hills, the range is less. Although I love my C7 as a DD and I use the performance often on the back roads where I live, for the Interstate prefer my wife's SUV and miss my modified trucks when I was between Vettes! Love to sit up high and not worrying about navigating around shed 18 wheeler tire treads!
Don't think I helped but keeping the truck and getting the Tesla is an option, albeit an expensive one!

Looks to me the vote is for the corvette based on your real life daily needs when ACTUALLY using the car

Sorry, I have to show a photo:

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I live in Northern California, and work in Silicon Valley, and Tesla’s are EVERYWHERE! I think there are about 15 of them in our parking lot any given day. One of my co-workers owns the standard S85, and I have driven it, and I get what you are saying... Until you drive one, you can't imagine the feeling. Even just sitting in one isn't enough. I haven't ridden in the P85D yet, but I bet it is mind-blowing.
I too considered this exact same thing, I sold my BMW 335D, and was thinking Vette, or Tesla? What made me decide was I asked myself, "What am I buying this car for?", and the answer was, "A car to have fun with". I already have a commuter, and I already have a truck, I have just always wanted a fast, sporty car (faster and sportier than a 335), and especially always wanted a Vette.
I think the Tesla would be nice if you plan to take more people along, or want to have ridiculous acceleration in a big sedan, but once you start driving it hard up in some hills, it really starts to fall short of the Vette. It is heavy, and you can feel it, once the straight line acceleration thrills are done.
So why are you buying the car, to have fun, or to commute in? Because I think the Tesla makes a better commuter, but isn't as fun to drive as a Vette (after you get used to the "Ludacris" acceleration).

You can forget about ever taking it on a real road trip. Of course, you could get a portable generator to mount in the trunk so you can recharge wherever gas is sold
Although I believe the Tesla is significantly overpriced, it is the only pure electric car I could love because of the very impressive performance. A Prius does not bring smiles to my face.
Could work as a DD and short range touring car but having to design your trips around Supercharging stations would be a major PITA for me. Recharging times quoted are no doubt on the money but what if a few cars are in front of you? Major annoyance.
Plus, from what I've read, if you're into speed, the C7 quickly starts to catch up and pass the Teslas in the 100mph and well beyond speed ranges, not that I play in that area.
Good luck, different cars but both are winners. Don
There is a Ara about a corvette that other cars don't have and it speaks to you or it doesn't. ..
It seems that you hear something that seeks to your soul. I did not listen to the song that my soul heard once I did this time
Oh yes I am 6' 3" and 245 and I fit well enough to enjoy the music. ..
Might I suggest a white z51?
Also, I think top end on a Tesla is now around 130 mph and my Z51 is 186 mph. I could hit the 130 mark on my '12 Mustang GT on the straight and I'm thinking my Z51 may hit 140, but I won't know until spring.
My final decision was to buy the Z51 2016 Vette. When I get old, I'll buy the Tesla.
