Oh that guy, every car marque has those guys. I thought you were talking about the obese middle-aged balding man in elastic waist sweat pants, old running shoes with gold chains around his neck and wrist , and a diamond pinky ring, trying to get out of his shiny corvette.
Arrogant, rude people exist because they have little self confidence or self worth. In general, their egos are weak, so they must defend at all costs, their choices, whether it be cars, motorcycles, boats, etc, etc.
In general, I think "that guy" is compensationg, if you catch my drift.
People like that exist in all walks of life. Some people in my home city judge you by where you live...
lol People in the Cincinnati area judge you by what High School you went to...yes, High School - not college. Not being from here, I just roll my eyes.
Yep, you'll find them everywhere. Trust me, I drive a stock '81. Some owners are just that, owners. They want to be seen with their 'Vette, their Harley, their _____, just fill in the blank. I get a kick out of driving my beater Corvette and my nothing special Harley, that's why I have them. Maybe one day I'll get around to buying the official Corvette/Harley/whatever D-Bag starter kit. It comes with monogrammed underwear, hat, lighter, keychain, shirt, jacket, and money clip of whatever it is that makes them special. Once I have that, I'll know that I've arrived.
Some of you may get a smile out of that, some may be offended. If the shoe fits....
I think you should chill. Corvette owners like to talk about their cars. Obviously they are car enthusiasts if they're dropping that much money on a car. And everybody complains about slow drivers. Unless there was some serious body language or perhaps tonal expressions we're not getting in print he didn't seem like "that guy" to me - he just seemed like a guy into cars and proud of his purchase.
Here we go . . . So, why should I chill? It is what it is and I love corvette enthusiasts as this is my 3rd Vette. Clearly this wasn't the case and that is the reason for the post.

FWIW, if I met you in a bar, and you told me that story , you would be "that guy"
I think the guy was proud of his car and wants to convince others that he wasn't just some guy that buys one and drives it like a *****.
Soooo, he ends up coming off as a douushbag.
I would always converse with someone who shows interest in my car but I would keep it low key-don't be a braggart! Many people aren't fortunate enough to have a C7.
Of the large majority of people I've met like that, their douchiness isn't limited to the particular car they drive. They are generally douches about everything.
The guys with the most toys are many times the hardest to get to talk about all they have....they just want to stay humble and participate like everyone else.

I don't think you're even allowed to post here, if you didn't go to Elder...

Or he could... be THAT guy. I give respect to anybody who is into the "car culture" because that's how I have been brought up in the scene. If you have a Civic and you're proud of it (not arrogant), awesome! Props, bro! All the way up to the supercar guys. Unfortunately, there's always a few bad apples to ruin the bushel they say.
