So it rains in Houston, nothing bad or even heavy, however the weather turned really bad and decided to flood most all of southeast Texas. It's amazing how bad the rain got between Houston and Orange which is around 100 miles.

OK, it is what it is, so I decided to make a one way car rental through Enterprise as their Hammond office is about a block from Ross Downing. I make it for 3/18/16 figuring that Interstate 10 would be open a week after the fact. Well, I guessed wrong. I-10 is still shut down and the only ways to get there are through Port Arthur and Holly Beach along the Gulf Coast, then up highway 27 to Sulphur, then I-10 to Hammond. However a call to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriffs dept cancels that idea real quick.

The next closest route takes me up through Livingston Texas and through the Piney Woods of east Texas. A call to the Newton County Sheriffs office cancels that. The final route would be through Shreveport and the wife and I have made that trip several times and it's around 5 hours out of the way, each way.

All the paperwork is done, insurance is ready, everything is ready to rock and roll. I'm dying to start her up and head on down the road. However as much as I want to get into the car, with all this traffic I would be right in the middle of just isn't worth it. It can wait a couple of days. Hopefully I-10 will be back open early next week and I can head that way. Either that or have it shipped to the house in a covered truck.

Anyway, I had to either cry or vent, so the members benefited from a vent.

Smart to wait! Love my 29 month old C7 but got caught in a torrential downpour on the way home only once. On a narrow road where I live had to turn around because the water level was just too high. Fortunately where I thought there would be a flooding problem the water level was low enough to get thru! Hope I never get caught in that again!
Recently when we had flooding in SC, had to go to Myrtle Beach. Used the wife's SUV. Thought I would take the back roads to avoid traffic. About 30 minutes later the road was blocked with equipment fixing a bridge! Had to back track!

Sounds like a ruff start. But here's wishing you years of joy long after this experience has faded into a vague memory.

Yep, however the waitress was also a little hottie.

Pictures to come tomorrow, I arrived at the house right at sundown, plus I was worn out from driving over 600 miles in around 13 hours.
