So I have down loaded waze and I am trying to get it to sound through my car stereo. Who has the setup for this? Also I just had the Android software upgrade and was wondering if waze will work with the stereo app too? Thanks.
Personally I'd just use Google Maps since you have Android Auto. Waze seems childish to me. Have you ever connected anything on your phone to the car using Bluetooth (e.g. Google Music, Pandora, various podcast players etc). They all go through the Bluetooth interface to play audio. They also broadcast some titling information such as the name of the song or podcast, etc which will be displayed in the DIC when on Audio. So sure you could listen to Waze if you set up the Bluetooth - however - if you set it up to use Bluetooth but then switch to the radio or XM you will not hear it. Bluetooth does not interrupt these other audio channels.
Make sure bluetooth is active on your phone and car, and in the WAZE settings. Then start the car BEFORE you turn WAZE on. If WAZE is running before I start the car, directions won't come through the car stereo.
One issue you will likely have is that after you get a Waze report over BT the infotainment system does't go automatically back to playing the audio source. If you were listening to the radio for instance, you will need to hit the radio button after the Waze report to get back to music. It is a glitch in the MyLink firmware, apparently.

I've never had this issue. Mine always goes immediately back to the music.
Waze is awesome. Google Maps uses some of the data from Waze, but there is no substitute for Waze for anyone who wants to stay informed on the road. To include police locations in the area, or stopped cars, or debris on the roadway.
I only wish that Waze worked on the infotainment screen via CarPlay 😔

I had the Android Auto update done on my new Malibu a couple weeks ago. Here is what I found:
1. When connected to Android auto through the USB cable, the phone is disconnected from the Bluetooth connection.
2. If I start Waze BEFORE I plug the phone into the USB and start Android Auto it will continue to run. The voice prompts will still come through the speakers, and the stereo will be muted when direction (or speed trap warnings) are given.
3. On my phone (Samsung Galaxy S4). Once Android auto starts the screen goes to a black screen that just says "Android Auto", a type of locked state. If I hold the home button down for about 5 seconds the phone goes into a multiwindow screen when i can select Waze and still have that showing on the phone screen. Make sure to change the options in the Waze app to always stay on top, and prevent the phone from sleeping.
So is it possible to have Google Maps running on the main infotainment screen and Waze on the phone screen simultaneously? That would be killer.

WAZE uses far less bandwidth also; I had it on for over 6 hours last weekend and it hardly made a dent in my data usage.....I'm sold on using it! Beside, I like Morgan's voice

Waze has saved my butt more times than I care to admit (I believe it is owned by Google) and I use it all the time. I have had no issues using it in the C7, works the same way as it does in all the other cars.
Is there a way to use both Waze and Pandora via Bluetooth or USB at they same time? I have never been able to get both working through the C7 at the same time.

Yes.. I use Pandora and Waze at the same time. I have a Pro Clip that holds my IPhone and view Waze as Pandora plays in car.
I know this discussion was about getting the waze audio to play through the radio, but does anyone know how to get waze projected onto the infotainment screen using Android Auto? I just had AA installed on the car and google maps worked fine, but I'd love to have waze displayed. Having said that I can deal with viewing google maps and hearing the waze warnings if that's all I can do until waze becomes an approved AA application (hopefully).

This happens for any iOS application when you are listening to a non-iOS source that is not CapPlay compatible.... Unfortunately. It essentially means not playing XM, FM, or AM as when an app sends sound, it will never return control back to the original source (unless it was from the iPhone).
It's definitely a bad design decision if not a bug.
