A question from a technologically challenged old guy. I understand that there is an update to get Andriod Auto for the C7's, but some came from the factory with it already installed. My C7 was built the first of May. Do I have it, or do I need to get the update? I would ask the neighbors 12 year old son, but they moved and took him with 'em
Is your car a 2016? I can't remember when 2016 production started. The Android Auto software can only be used on 2016 hardware.
If any 2016s came with the Android Auto software installed by Bowling Green, it has only been on cars built within the last few weeks. Your car certainly did not have it factory installed. You will need to schedule your dealer to do the upgrade.

Thanks boiler, you would think as long as I've been on here I would have added some important info like the year. It's a '16 built the 3rd day of May. I'll swing by the dealer. They're good folks, and will fix me right up.

The iOS 9.3 update also fixed this issue for me. Man, with this and non functional CarPlay Apple really had the 9.2.1 hosed.

Waze Now REQUIRES Access to Mobile Contacts!

In recent versions of the navigation app, Waze, you are required to release access to your full mobile Contact List in order to communicate with other drivers or add someone to your Waze Friends List. You are, therefore, releasing valuable information to Google about every person in your contacts list without their permission.
Google acquired ways in 2013 and in the current Waze Terms & Conditions it give Google the right to use the Contacts List as it wishes. This seems like Google's most intrusive action yet and is a gross violation of personal privacy.
This happens for any iOS application when you are listening to a non-iOS source that is not CapPlay compatible.... Unfortunately. It essentially means not playing XM, FM, or AM as when an app sends sound, it will never return control back to the original source (unless it was from the iPhone).
It's definitely a bad design decision if not a bug.
If I run Spotify and overlap Waze, it reports and goes back to music. Quite nice and seamless.
Personally I'd just use Google Maps since you have Android Auto. Waze seems childish to me.
You use Waze for police detection. Although far from 100%, it does a good job of letting you know where they're waiting for you, so you can avoid tickets.
I like it that I usually have over 100 other pairs of driving eyeballs around me that are looking for hazards of all types and giving me real time updates......
And speed/red light cams! They are all over around here and spotting news ones or reminding about old ones doesn't hurt.
