I was playing with the wife's I-phone today to try the airplay out and i thought it changed the car, im not a fan of the standard nav/phone screen layout of operation and found the apple version really quite slick in comparison
So what's the tirck to get this to work? When I connect my phone I don't have indication on the screen at all. If I hold the speak button down it activates SIRI and asks what I want to do. But no input to the car's screen that I can tell. Mine's a 2016 bought in early December, built in late November.

I think you need to UNPAIR your phone from the car. Then go into General Setting on your phone and hit carplay....then pair it that way.
By hitting the speaker button it's telling the phone to go into SIRI mode.

On your iPhone, go to Settings....General....CarPlay....and see if you have MyLink (your car's system) listed....click the "i" and make sure you have it set to allow CarPlay While Locked
CarPlay works find on my car - I have not had any issues - I like being able to tell SIRI an address - much easier than the built in Nav system
NOTE: I am using the latest beta iOS which has CarPlay updates according to Apple

CarPlay shows up as "on" in my iPhone general settings and shows MyLink as the car. Are you saying that BT needs to be turned off for this to work? It's not smart enough to know that when you plug it in you are trying to connect and use that vs BT?

Funny thing. My apple car play has disappeared. Took the car out from storage today and when I started it the phone paired just fine and my apple car play in the phone setting is on and paired, however the car play icon is gone from the screen. Weird. And for some reasons I can't get my info screens to change when I switch from T to S to TR. it stays the same no matter what I do. Looks like a trip to the dealer is in order. I did have the battery disconnected for a few minutes but not sure that should affect either one of those. Any suggestions?
Damn, that's too bad. But you were ahead of me as I haven't ever seen a CarPlay icon on my screen.

On the home screen of the Infotainment screen do you see a "Projection" icon when your iPhone is not plugged into your car? (CarPlay requires you to have the OEM Navigation option in order to work, I do not think that CarPlay works on non-navi systems EDIT: CHEVY DOCS DO NOT STATE NAV IS REQUIRED MAY HAVE BEEN MIS-INFORMATION FROM THE DEALER THAT I GOT THIS INFO FROM)
After you plug your iPhone into your car using the lightning cable the "Projection" icon should change to "CarPlay"
for me it was as simple as plugging in my iPhone into the car (I use the USB connector in the center console as it fits my 6s Plus well) and allow your phone to use CarPlay with the car (Popup on iPhone screen) this only happens the first time you plug your device into the car.
Needless to say I do not have my phone paired to the car via BT and when connected via CarPlay I can still use handsfree, ect with out the phone being connected via BT.
Any reviews and screen shots as to what it looks like?
Thanks!
I like it. It doesn't work 100% all of the time though. Indexing seems to be the weakest link. I'll ask siri to play a song and another song will start playing sometimes or it won't be able to find a song, but I noticed that after a while when the phone is connected for some time, things get better. Other than that, apple radio works most of the time and I enjoy that feature and when things do work, it seems to understand commands. The reading of text messages out loud and the ability to respond back is also cool. Again, it doesn't always work, sometimes siri will say: You have a new text message from xyz and then there won't be anything there but most of the time it works.
It's basically a work in progress and I would think after some updates, it should be perfected.

I really like the CarPlay feature as some have stated it's not perfect, it does indeed have some issues for example if you have WiFi calling enabled and you use your WiFi hotspot in your Corvette to connect to your iPhone you could have some drop out's during phone calls when the iPhone goes from LTE to WiFi calling due to degraded coverage area - I assume this will be addressed in time by Apple as WiFi calling is still kinda new for them.
As far as Maps goes I like the Apple Maps feature better then the stock nav maps I do wish Waze would add CarPlay to it's app so I can use that vs Apple Maps
Music works pretty good, you have full access to all your albums, songs, ect when parked however when driving you get limited access to your library and must use Siri in order to play anything that is not in that limited list - I think that's my biggest complaint as far as music goes however if you create playlists you can avoid that issue I guess.
Phone Conversations work excellent minus the WiFi calling caveat much clearer then Bluetooth and the party on the other end states they can hear me better when connected via CarPlay vs BT. You do have access to your contact list, Recent calls, Favorites and the key pad to dial as well as Siri for voice commands.

I had no idea you needed the OEM Nav. I don't have it - so I guess it's a moot point for me.
Well, I went to the Chevrolet web source on CarPlay and it looks like I may be in for my first trip to the dealer. The instructions say that the "Projection" screen icon should change to a CarPlay icon once the compatible iPhone is connected via USB. Mine does not, no matter how long I hold down the speak button. I tried it with the phone BT on (paired and unpaired) and with BT totally off on the iPhone. Same result. Nothing. BTW, for those like me that hadn't really read the manual on this (shouldn't have to) here is link to Chevy. I also suspected that my POS work iPhone 5C might not have been compatible, but Apple says yes it is.

According to the Chevy document it does not state that the Nav is required for CarPlay to work, however my information was based on a dealer I was talking to before I bought my car. Could have been a sales pitch (granted I did not end up buying my car from that dealer in the end so no love lost I guess maybe just mis-information)
I would venture to guess if you have the "Projection" icon then you should be able to do CarPlay.
