Parked my C7 at the local Walmart to return a wild looking but basically useless lawn sprinkler.
Started walking in as a guy drove in with a white C7 convertible with a big red stripe on the hood and aft end.
Walked up and asked how he liked and he said he loved it and I pointed to mine nearby and said I too was very happy with mine. Then he said "I WON it!" I said "You won it?" He said he purchased a $300 dollar raffle ticket at the Natl Corvette museum and won! Said it actually cost him about $18,000 as TX made him pay sales tax and the value of the car counted as income for IRS purposes but we both still thought a $60K car for $18K was heck of a deal.
What are the odds of running into a C7 lottery winner? Don

i can't remember where i read it, but someone had a problem with his c7 and gm had to buy it back; a few minutes after he got back home, he got a phone call from the museum telling him he had won a new one!

i wonder if it was the guy you talked to.
Nope, not the same guy. His was a Laguna Blue Coupe that he picked up at the Museum, then promptly started a wide-body conversion project. Here is that thread.
When I joined the forum I said that I'd tell my Corvette story. I still need to fill out the details, but this thread hits close to home. Driving a C7 is incredible. Winning one seems surreal.
In Canada, prizes aren't taxable, and Imperial Oil (Mobil 1's Canadian parent company) paid the taxes due at registration.
That is pretty amazing to run across a winner like that. I would assume all states hit the winner up for sales tax, and the IRS probably counts the car as income. Unfortunately most of us are taxed to death...
About 3 1/2 years ago, I won a new torch red red c6 in a raffle for charity. 100 tickets sold at $1000 each. I was the lucky winner that year.
Drove it for about a year and sold it to a friend and then bought a new C7.
Some days a guy just can' t get a break!
