I like both black and chrome, depending. Black on a yellow vette with yellow calipers looks outstandingly beautiful to me. So do chrome on a Torch Red with red calipers. Both are beautiful combinations. I just shake my head at the extremist who insists on one and doesn't even want the other choice to be available for anyone.
What I'd REALLY like to see more of (and there are a few out there) is more color on the wheels. For example, a body-color rim with chrome or black spokes. Another way to do it would be black or chrome rims, with body color on the flat outside surfaces of the spokes. The mix and match combinations possible with those options would make for some very unique looks.
So am I the only person that dislikes black wheels? When the wife and I decided we wanted to by a new vette everything we looked at had black wheels. I wanted either chrome or at least the silver painted wheels. My son and wife and others said I needed to get with the times. Well we finally found a car with the options we were looking for and it had the black rims with the polished machine edges. I figured cool I can deal with that, a little bit of shiny with the black. Ok I will get with the times. I even made a comment to the dealer and his reply was black is the new chrome. But as it turns I hate them now. I am so mad at myself. The more I look at them the more I want chrome wheels. The wife and son think I am nuts. Am I just out of touch?
I have a feeling I will be alone with this one.
The only problem with black wheels is that they are impossible to keep clean without a lot of work
Not so fast there! I just found this on the Lamborghini web sight! OH MY GOD! Shiny silver!!! SHINY SILVER?!?!?!? Isn't that chrome's illegitimate second cousin? Well, it's definitely way to close to chrome for me. Ferrari I can let slide, but Lambo? Guess I'll cancel that Aventador order! Will the other's on this forum that have orders in join me in protest? I've definitely lost all respect for them. I just hope the rest of the European Automotive Industry doesn't do the same like they do GM for even offering a wheel like that as an option because "some old geezer" might want them!!!

Shiny silver or polished is still tasteful. It's still not chrome they are offering, which is the point you totally missed.

Piece of cake. Soak a microfiber towel in warm water and wipe off wheel and caliper. Squirt with Meguiars Quik Wax and wipe with clean microfiber. Takes about 3 minutes per wheel and you are ready to roll

Trust me, I don't think I missed the point. And to the thousands of Corvette enthusiasts out here that have chosen to continue a decades old tradition in sports car design and selected chrome wheels for our cars, let me say, thanks for pointing out that our choice was less than "tasteful". Or have I simply missed another point?

P.S. Chrome wheels were around long before black and will be around long after black is a faded memory...
All those chrome lovers keep saying black is just a fad and it will fade away. Been saying that for years, but manufacturers keep offering black wheels in their lineup. And today, it looks like one of the FEW models that even offer chrome is corvette. Pretty sure black is here to stick around.
