So am I the only person that dislikes black wheels? When the wife and I decided we wanted to by a new vette everything we looked at had black wheels. I wanted either chrome or at least the silver painted wheels. My son and wife and others said I needed to get with the times. Well we finally found a car with the options we were looking for and it had the black rims with the polished machine edges. I figured cool I can deal with that, a little bit of shiny with the black. Ok I will get with the times. I even made a comment to the dealer and his reply was black is the new chrome. But as it turns I hate them now. I am so mad at myself. The more I look at them the more I want chrome wheels. The wife and son think I am nuts. Am I just out of touch?
I have a feeling I will be alone with this one.
A majority of the younger generation likes black, older likes chrome. Thats a majority, not all. Start a thread in the wanted section here, there are many that want to change from chrome to black. Hopefully you can find someone local and trade.
When I bought my Grand Sport 3 1/2 years ago I detested the black wheel look and went with chrome. On my '16 Stingray I ordered it with the standard silver, as chrome was becoming blingy looking, and for an extra $2,000 it wasn't as attractive of an option. Fast forward to now and I do like the black wheel look much more, so much so that I wouldn't mind having them on the right colored car. This is probably a byproduct of me spending so much time on the forum looking at other members rides with black wheels.
I often wonder if the reason why older gents like chrome and dislike black is because when they were younger, chrome was much more prevalent like on bumpers and mirrors, and the only time anyone saw a black wheel was when a hub cap fell off of a filthy POS '75 El Dorado beater from a Chicago ghetto.
If you can't decide on which flavored wheels to put on your Corvette, it's still a pretty darn nice problem to have. Competition gray wheels are a very nice compromise between the 2 extremes. Good luck

Get whatever the hell you want.
Unless your wife will also be driving this car, in which case you should be considering her wishes, because once she starts driving it, she won't let you back in the driver's seat. Just sayin'

LOL she drives it but not very often. She agrees chrome would look better
but does like black wheels.

I will admit that on certain colors black wheels look ok but not great.
there is no right or wrong in this kind of issue, there is only what you prefer. to me, 99.9% of cars look better with wheels that are polished, or silver, chrome, gold or most colors other than black. to me, dark colors don't show the wheel at its best.
whatever anyone likes is fine; we don't have to agree. we can ignore each other's choices, unless the other happens to insist on playing loud boom box bass "music" in a situation where i could not escape from its vicinity within a very short period of time. that would necessitate a discussion.
very easily. it just comes naturally, since you asked, lol. i also don't like white cars. since they took all the cream color out of most of them a few decades ago, they look very cheap, plain and blase to me, especially with black wheels, like a 1980's b&w cop car. having said that, i realize that white was the most popular c7 color in 2015, but not for me.
however, i support your and everyone else's option to exercise your right to like and choose whatever you want, and i'll do the same. you can't change people's subjective choices; you can only say, i agree with you or i don't.
this is one of many c7 color and wheel options that is stunningly good looking to me;
I guess its just not my thing. Like I said, I am probably the minority on this subject. There is just something about the shine.
Wouldn't say you're in the minority or out of touch, everyone likes different wheels.
I never cared for Black wheels until I saw them on the C7.
And when I bought mine I would have gone with anything but Chrome and I like Chrome.
But I just didn't want to spend the extra 2k for Chrome.
Only thing that matters is getting what "you" like
And as others mentioned, you can find someone who will take your wheels in trade for Chrome or swap even.
Good Luck whatever you end up doing
I'm with you, Mike. To my eyes, the black wheels are simply unattractive. They tend to get "lost" and I just don't like the way they look. I went with the standard painted wheels, not because they were "free" but because I like the way they look. I'd have even paid extra for them in order to get them if necessary.

And there you have it. Now look at the difference in the look. The silver/chrome make the blue pop.
No body (except maybe a 90 year old) would call me young but I like black wheels, do not like chrome at all. Not only does the chrome plating add weight it just screams hey look at me. I have had enough of that with the other cars I own. I looked for a car with black wheels.
