oh come on,,it's just the engine ..... But i will say ...if the car was abused .... That could be a whole other story ....dont think they cover abuse ..if the case ..
I would think GM will check the engine computer's memory for operation history (you did keep RPMs well below red line). I am sure the engine will be disassembled to determine cause of failure. If it is a manufacturing flaw I am certain warranty will cover failure. Anything that shows abuse or evidence of not following proper maintenance procedures are grounds for warranty dental.
I am feeling more compassion for the OP than anything else. I, like him, bought a vehicle designed to be driven on the track. It has all kinds of protection built into it to keep any of us who make a mistake while driving it the way it was intended to be driven from hurting the systems and the driver. We also have all kinds of monitoring that will report exactly what happened and I would like to think that GM will step up for him personally and for their pride in this iconic brand after such a failure. I have built engines and even a small bearing adjustment being off can trash an engine. Let's get behind him in this and hope that he has happen to him what we all would like to happen to us given similar circumstances.

Grandma would define Abuse as anything I ever did to a car. Hers never had a Carbon build up problem.
Hey... Everyone builds good and bad engines. Something failed for it to self destruct. Yes, Warranties and Insurance cover mistakes or we'd all be in trouble.
I'm glad you will sing the praises of the C7 if GM replaces everything under warranty, but how will you feel if it, or something else grenades the engine, and it's not under warranty? Just asking....
Don't know all the particulars, but if it was under warranty, which it should have been (11,000 miles), GM should take care of you. Why not? And, I would not have them salvage any parts for the new engine.
Track day yesterday. On an HPDE and engine quits and all electrics stop. Long story short. A rod thru the crankcase. Car is at dealer and should find out if covered by warranty on Monday. At a loss on how this could happen. Under 11,000 miles on my Z51 2015 Stingray.
Is this a manual transmission or automatic trans car?
Don't tell them you were at the track. -- Hopefully Gm and the dealer can correlate your handle here to your name and vin number of the car.-- you may be SOL if GM knows for a fact you were at the track.
I just went through catastrophic engine failure on my 2011 daily driver KIA sorento -- Never tracked and the car has never seen its 6500 rpm redline. The dealer started off by being a real booger by asking me if I changed the oil regularly --- I said yes and the dealer performed all the oil changes. -- in the end I had to produce all my hardcopy oil change receipts from the dealer. Then the were very good about fixing the car.

How can this not be covered. You didnt do anything that was detrimental to the engine. If tracking the car and not driving like a old lady voids your warranty why would you ever buy one. I think you will be fine and GM will pay.

Another thing, as long as you followed the break in requirements (exactly to the manufacturers guidance), you should be ok. They can, and will, look at this. It is also stored in the computer.
There are some here that believe following the break in guidance is optional. This is only true if you don't ever have a major engine issue or are not concerned about paying the bill if its deemed to be not covered).
Good luck. Hopefully all will work out ok. Its still a bummer. But if you do run cars, any cars, hard you will have something that will happen....sooner or later.

Engine blows up on Saturday and GM has an answer for you on warranty coverage on the following Monday?
Washington State GM rep must work a lot faster than South Florida's!
