Default Oil change

I would like to change my oil and would like some tips how to best do this at home. Since I track the car I'm continually changing 15/50 to 5w-30 and back again. I don't have a lift but have ramps, car jacks and other necessary tools. How are you approaching this w/o a lift.

Not 'xactly brain surgery. I have homemade ramps that lift the car about 6". I raise the back with a floor jack with homemade fixture made from 2x6 with a hockey puck on each end to get it level. You need to let it drain for awhile if you have dry sump.

Default Stahlbus M12x1.75 Oil Drain Valve

I sell quite a few of the Stahlbus oil drain valves to Corvette owners. The quick disconnect adapter that attaches to the oil drain valve allows you to drain the oil directly into the empty 5-quart containers from your previous oil change.

I don't care for ramps. I use two jacks and made 6 inch high stanchions for the rear wheels to keep the car level while draining the oil. Here are two PDF's I made with lots of pics. One on changing oil and the other options for jacking a C7.
FWIW, may give you some ideas.

Don't forget you have two drain plugs on the dry sumps.

Anybody have these installed on a Z51? I haven't done an oil change yet myself on the C7, and I just found these when looking on Reverselogics website.

Just curious if there are any drain issues, or installation issues at either location on the oil pan. I have a G8GT as well, and years ago bought a Fumoto valve, but never installed it. The drainplug location on the G8 requires an adapter to basically shim the valve out, but then it sticks way out, and requires an additional washer for possible leak/failure point. Also didn't like the tiny diameter for the drain hose on the Fumoto. This Stahlbus valve looks like a good diameter to flow pretty good.

Anyway, I see that Fred from Reverselogic says he has sold many of these to Corvette owners, but I don't see any real feedback on them. Looks like this would work with my G8.

To me the messiest part of an oil change is the filter. The part I like about this is you can drain directly to a container, vs draining to a drainpan, then pouring that into a container to recycle. I now punch a hole in the bottom of the filter to drain that, so a large funnel could be used on the catch container and only require cleaning a funnel my punch tool.

So, I'm gonna bump this thread up and hopefully get some more feedback from those who have this valve, hopefully some Z51 folks with dual drains.
