I recently purchased my stingray equipped with Remote Start from the factory. I set up my OnStar account and set up the app, but I don't have an option of turning the car on via Remote Start. I spoke to the dealership and no one knows if this is an option or not.
So any of you guys have the option? Or did you need to set anything up to have the remote start enabled via the OnStar app?
Useless anyway I have ti on my wife Terrain and my Yukon. Waste of technology, never understood what its value is
I am a little old school (even tho I'm 22) and I like to warm my cars up before driving off. I don't keep it on for a while but just for a minute or two tops while I walk to it. It also comes in handy on hot days to have the A/C on before you jump in the car.
The whole remote has been problematic for me as it quits working completely every few days and has to be reset by OnStar. When the ap is working the remote start works with the A8.

Well I don't even have the option. That's why I'm trying to figure out if it was an option or I need to do something.
I love the remote start on my daily driver. When it's zero and I can remote start and the car is warm when I get in. For the Corvette, I would find no value in it as I don't drive it under those conditions.

I sell GM products, your sales person should have set it up for you at delivery. If the dealership you bought the car from does not know how to do it, you should not have a bought a car from them, that's ashamed! Just call On-star, they will walk you through it.

They set it up but just the Remote Start button isn't available. They did an excellent job of taking care of me but they weren't sure why the button doesn't show up (see picture above). I asked OnStar and they were surprised and confused.

I have it. It was there when I downloaded and ran the app. I didn't do anything special.
I have it on our C7, SRX, Yukon Denali, and Terrain. Works on them all, no issues ever. You might try reloading the app and setting up your C7 again. If that doesn't work, I'd call OnStar. Let us know what works.

On our C7, on Sunday's I have meetings that last about 4-5 hours and I leave the vette parked in a place that's about a 10 minute walk. On the 90-100+ degree days I leave the HVAC temp low and the fan up high. Remote start it with OnStar just before I walk out to it and it's pretty much nice and cool when I get to it.
On our SRX, Yukon Denali, and Terrain, when it's really cold it's nice to remote start them via OnStar - when you get to the vehicle it's warm, heated seats are on, defrosted if that's how you left the HVAC switches, etc. Really nice.
Moral of the story - different strokes for different folks.

Logon to the OnStar Website and bring up your vehicle. Where it gives you an option to MANAGE MY VEHICLE, click on that. That screen will show you the vin number that is associated with your vehicle. The vin number tells the OnStar App whether you have an automatic or a manual shift car. The fifth position in the vin number indicates the equipment level including whether the car is an automatic or manual shift.
I have a manual shift 2015 Z06. When I bring up the app on a phone or iPad, I get the same screen as you get because the app has correctly determined I have a manual shift car.
If your vin number is incorrect in OnStar, you should be able to call OnStar and get them to correct it, maybe they can even force OnStar in your car to upload the vin.
