Default Check Engine Light

Check engine light came on tonight. Tried restarting and it still comes on. The problem is I'm traveling for work in the next day. Is there an issue if I have the car sit in the garage and I tend to it when I get back next week? Or can things get worse if I wait?

On Star was zero help. They don't have the codes to look up what the issue is.

The OnStar CSR used to provide the actual code but it has been awhile since I have used them for a check engine light. IF they will give you the actual DTC(s) then post them here and someone can look them up for you.

No issue at all in waiting while it sits

If the check engine light is not flashing, it likely is not serious. If you aren't going to drive it, nothing can happen. Just take it to a dealer when you can.

That sounds strange, when my CEL came on I talked up to On Star and they gave me the fault code and its description (fuel running lean).

Not to worry. It happened to me. Took it to the dealer, and 30 minutes later I was driving away. It was and engine misfire. Sent a code, they cleared it. Not happened again.

I find that if I'm forced to buy premium gas from a second tier gas station my CEL will come on until the inferior gas is cycled out. I typically get gas at first tier gas station but a couple of times over the last 6 months when I was forced to get gas at one of these locations and bang I get the CEL.

I just get fresh gas and once I run trough the old gas the CEL goes off.

Very sensitive.

If your car is sitting then you won't have a problem, it will wait until you get back. Not running, no light, no light means no problem.
