Forget the wax...apply a high-quality paint sealant or nano ceramic paint coating like Pinnacle Black Diamond Paint Coating 2.
My personal suggestions to keep your C7 in a spectacular finish with shine and reflective qualities.
1) Wash car with Dawn to strip down contaminants from the paint surface.
2) buy a Nanoskin wash mitt in a Fine Grade and nano skin the car. There is also the Eagle brand of wash mitt. This new technology eliminates using the old school clay bar. The paint finish will be as smooth as glass.
3) Rinse and dry thoroughly.
4) Polish the car with a DA buffer and polishing pad. Meguiar's 205 works great. Buff and remove all residue from the polish. Blackfire Polish and Seal also works well.
5) Wipe the C7 down with a 70% isopropyl alcohol 30% water solution. You can find this at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart etc.
6) Apply a nano ceramic paint coating. I use Pinnacle Black Diamond Paint Coating. (The version is V2) Sold at Autogeek.net.
There will be no need to wax the car. The nano ceramic coating will last several years. You may repeat the process annually. These steps above will take about 5 hours to complete for one person as DIY project. Great for weekends. There are several YouTube videos on how to apply the nano ceramic Pinnacle Black Diamond Paint Coating.
The cost for a DIY project is about $125.00 vs a professional detail shop which would cost about $1000 to $1200.
The results will be a great paint coating that will deliver a fantastic shine and highly reflective paint qualities.
This is what I have done to all my premium sports cars.
I am sure that so many other members will suggest what they have used. There are literally hundreds of products, methods, and ideas of how to maintain the paint finish.
All I can say, this proven method has worked for me.
After completing these steps, washing and drying the C7 is a very easy task, taking less than 30 minutes and the C7 will remain in showroom condition.

Interesting. I'll have to get some of that and give it a try.
Put the car out in the hot sun, the finish will actually self repair over time. After you are satisfied that the mark is virtually unnoticeable, now polish and wax. It will take time but it will disappear.
Nothing is going to fix it! Just sell the car.............
I actually did this once... black vert C5, Florida sun etched / burned rings into the clear coat after a heavy rain. No polishing would remove it. Sold it a month later and bought a C6.
(except do the entire roof, not hood). Looks like it etched the clear coat. You'll need to polish it,
but start with the affected area, and do the whole roof only IF you need to...it depends on how deep the etching is...I've had exactly the same issue on my grey stingray, used a menzerna polish, problem solved.
You even have to be careful washing off the fresh stuff. It can be very abrasive and can damage the paint surface. You kind of learn the way, unfortunately.
Thanks for all the suggestions. My favorite is "sell the car". I'm so crazy about my cars that I actually thought that. If this doesn't come out I simply can't drive the car anymore. I've always hand detailed my cars and do not have an orbital buffer plus I've never used one and wouldn't even try. I did clay bar (Adams), wax (Mother's Brazilian) and glaze (Adams) the car about a month ago. I keep everything in the car to deal with bugs, birds and sap. I never leave anything on the car for 5 minutes...except this time it was 5 days in a totally dark garage, no sun at all. I'm going to the first car show of the year this Saturday and hopefully I'll find someone there who can help. I'd like to just focus on the spots and not have to do the whole roof or car if at all possible. Today I'm going to try the "leave it in the sunlight" solution. Thanks again for all the advice.

I've been able to remove worse scratches and bird bomb etching with 205. I'm fairly sure it will come out with a microfiber detail cloth and a fine grade polish like 205. I'd work on the spot by hand before doing the entire roof.
