That kills the motion sensor alarm in the car until you cycle the car power. So if you get out to pick up a pizza and leave your kid in the car, hit that and the alarm won't go off.

Also the tilt sensor, good to know if you want to jack it up without opening the doors. There is a module on each side over the windshield.
Amazing what you can learn from the Owners Manual:
Intrusion and Inclination
Sensors Disable Switch
It is recommended that the intrusion
and inclination sensors be
deactivated if pets are left in the
vehicle or the vehicle is being
transported.
With the vehicle turned off, press "Off"
on the right side of the hatch
release button. The indicator light
will come on momentarily, indicating
that these sensors have been
disabled for the next alarm system
arming cycle.
I assume this is activated only if the doors are locked, correct?
Correct:
Arming the Alarm System
1. Turn off the vehicle.
2. Lock the vehicle in one of
three ways:
. Use the RKE transmitter.
. Use the Keyless Access
system.
. With a door open, press Q
on the interior of the door.
3. After 30 seconds the alarm
system will arm, and the
indicator light will begin to slowly
flash indicating the alarm system
is operating.

Thank you Rooster and Dave Powell for your fast and no nonsense reply. Zymurgy I did look for it in the manual. Page 1-2 does not even list it as being a switch on the instrument panel. I took offence to your opening remark.

Actually, the Owners Manual does reference it on the page 1-2 diagram. From the associated descriptions on page 1-3:
13. Hatch/Trunk Release Button.
See Hatch (Trunk) on
page 2-14.
Intrusion and Inclination
Sensors Disable Switch. See
Vehicle Alarm System on
page 2-16.
