1LT bluetooth navigation question
1. Would I only hear the Bluetooth streaming information while the in infotainment system is in "media"? Or could I be listening to Pandora or the radio and the navigation would cut in to give updates??
2. Any chance the same display on the cell navigation showing the map would show on the infotainment screen via bluetooth?
2) no
Bluetooth doesn't stream images - just sound. There are usually two bluetooth profiles - one for your phone and one for media. If you get a phone call the car is already set up to recognize this, silence any audio, and proceed with the phone call's audio using bluetooth. This is done via the bluetooth phone profile. The media profile, OTOH, allows you to stream any audio output your phone is producing (i.e. music player, podcast players, etc.) but streams it only to the media section on your car. If your car is set to listen to the radio you will hear nothing from your phone.
That said, instead of listening to Pandora, I think, but am not certain, what you are hearing is coming from the Pandora app on your phone. As such it probably must use the bluetooth in order to get the music to the car. You can easily test by playing your Pandora and then turning off bluetooth on your phone. If the music drops then it's using bluetooth and your voice guidance from your GPS app on your phone should come through when Pandora's playing (but not the radio as that's a separate channel).
This is one of the reasons why I almost always used bluetooth in prior cars - because I was using Google Maps or Waze on my phone and (sometimes) wanted voice alerts. With Mylink with Nav (which is what I now have) the Nav system is setup such that if voice navigation is on then it will interrupt whatever you have going (Pandora, Bluetooth or even the radio).
So what is the big Pandora button on MyLink? It's simply an app that gives a nice face to the smaller Pandora interface on your phone. Theoretically you can use GPS on your phone and get voice navigation but only reliably if you have and are listening to stuff via bluetooth.
Now I have Android Auto (You don't say what year your vette is but if it's a 2016 you might be able to get AA on it. I'm not sure if that's doable with an LT1 package. Check with your dealer or at chevy.com and chat with a rep), which I really do like but it also has some cons. On the plus side you get Google Maps, Google Voice Recognition (which is, as Trump puts it, HUUUUUUGGGGEEE), integration with Google Hangouts for phone calls and messaging and a number of "media apps" like Google Music (yeah!), TuneIn, Audible (for my audiobooks on those long hauls) and BeyondPod - my podcast player of choice which I use 80% of the time I'm in the car (that and maps - constantly). I believe there's also Pandora for that big button on the big screen feeling (but personally if I want to listen to music with commercials I'd just turn on the radio and I haven't done that in years). There may be others like iHeartRadio, etc. but really, I have all of the media material that I'm interested in.
I hope my post here provided you with some info. Look into AA (if you're an Android guy - or CarPlay if you're an iGuy). And remember you can always just use your phone and bluetooth but you'll have a smaller screen to deal with.
