Pretty sad. I never had issues with A4 - it was simple and it worked as designed (at least mine all did). Got rid of my A6 because it really sucked. My service manager said mine was worse than most he tested. Yet the engineers that came to check it out said " working as designed". I told him...thats what Toyota said about the gas pedals...LOL.
So now I have an A8. Although its not nearly as bad as my A6, it still does not sit well that after all the advancements and all the money spent I still have a less than acceptable tranny in a pretty expensive car by most standards.

If that was trouble with the A6 in a 2014, that's unfortunate because you'd be one of the very few with problems. My 2014 A6 has been rock solid.
6 years of improvements between 2008 - 2014. By 2014 GM had perfected it.
LOL - maybe, you're probably right. And then they started at ground zero again with an A8. I guess we should wait another 6 years for the A8 to be perfected? In the meantime...screw us !
A few suggestions and comments ...
Call Chevy Customer Service ;ask them
Tadge stated the A8 " is very reliable "
My '16 A8 goes into the shop next week for shifting issues..
Good Luck ..

I have the exact same issues. I guess I should ask for the reflash when I take it in for the 1st oil change service. How long did it take to do the reflash? Thanks.
My magic 8 ball says No. Seems that there will still be issues.
Sorry, couldn't pass this up.
I really hope that they fix the A8 but I doubt that it will ever be perfect. I am going to guess that the A10 is getting all the research and money and will be a better transmission, if only because it is being co-developed by Ford.
With two large auto companies working on one tranny there is a chance that it will be much better than the A8. I would wait for the A10 to show up in the C7 before I would want an auto from GM/Chevy.
Hold on I HEAR there's 20spd in the pipeline. Maybe a 30 spd. If 10 makes it better then why stop there?
I'd wait a few more generations before I'd buy.

Some A8's have been replaced, some computer re-freshed, trans re-learned while some have had torque converters replaced. I guess overheating was solved with the extra trans cooler in 2016. Fine! Hopefully current produced 2016's with A8 are OK but I don't know that and can't find much info on 2017 A8. I am thinking about a 2017 Grand Sport but I don't want to buy another C7 A8 until the trans issues/problems are resolved. Any thoughts? Thanks.
They kept the car most of the day ...had to bring tranny up to temp. good luck ...first dealer told me to just keep driving it as is ....seems there is not an established protocol for these problems for this year and date of manufacture ... if problems return ...a GM tech will be notified ..
My A8 built late Jan 15' has always shifted without incident. However, I did get the dreaded shudder issues in V4 and my Torque Converter was replaced. Also broke a drivers side CV joint earlier. Haven't had any overheating issues but don't track my car.
As I remember, over 80% of all vettes sold are A8's. Get what you are comfortable with and don't worry about it. Percentage wise, it's unlikely you will have problems.
I think this is the right answer. Consumer Reports shows overall transmission reliability for 2015 models to be above average, which includes the M7, but that indicates that most A8s are not problematic.
Another observation is that Ford with all the years they have had to get a new model of the GT right is still having their struggles displayed on the tracks for the whole world to see. It would have been amazing if our C7s were made perfect with no issues. I am about to track mine in October for the first time and I have no idea whether I will be one of the ones who have tranny heat issues until I try it. I am only booking one day as a result.
I answered the poll thread that I would like the overheating issues addressed if I didn't have to pay for GM's issue correction. Then I remembered the Ford Pinto decision to let people die in flames from their gas tank ruptures because of the cost to do a Pinto recall and fix the tank vulnerability issue. My conclusion is that I will be on my own.
My worst case scenario is that I don't get any help from GM if I have the problem but I like doing the track enough that I buy a solution and then get my warranty voided. I am looking forward to seeing how the 2017 oil catch can and A8 cooler and shifting issues are addressed. All of this is in the back of my mind while I continue to enjoy my C7 experience everyday.
