Default problems with C7 GS and stingray

Some A8's have been replaced, some computer re-freshed, trans re-learned while some have had torque converters replaced. I guess overheating was solved with the extra trans cooler in 2016. Fine! Hopefully current produced 2016's with A8 are OK but I don't know that and can't find much info on 2017 A8. I am thinking about a 2017 Grand Sport but I don't want to buy another C7 A8 until the trans issues/problems are resolved. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Here is my horror story:
this is my first post on any corvette forum. I am a BMW guy that was talked into buying 2015 2lt z51 on 3/2015, I liked the body style and the engine so why not?! after hitting 3000 miles cars starting having rhythmic vibrations when I reach 70m/hr. after many visits to dealership who were helpful and tried to fix it, I finally contacted GM customer service and I got the run around. after I got fed up contacted a lawyer on 2/2016 and a lemon case was opened. then I got GM attention and they changed : brakes, rotors, transmission, torque converter and then flew a gm engineer to myrtle beach where I live and they could not fix the problem so they agreed a=on giving me a new car. great right? not really!!!
now we are in 5/2016 and GM told me go to the dealership and order yourself a new car which I did, 2 months later I got a call from the lawyer telling me that GM told him the production for 2016 is closed and either I have to wait for 2017 production or get a different make from their line, Cadillac, buick bla bla bla. I said no I want a new car. or let's go to court.
we filed in federal court and when they got served-GM- they responded by offering a new 2017 corvette.
went to the dealership again and ordered a grandsport and paid some extra cash-the difference in price- to get what I want.
finally I ordered the car in January car arrived at the dealership on 3/29. do you know I was able to go and get the car 5/6!!! my lawyer and I were making phone calls on a daily basis to GM, dealership and my bank trying to make everyone move and deliver the car. 6 weeks the car sitting at the dealership.
anyhow after 14 months I got my car, happy with it but very paranoid.
first day I discovered chipped paint on both ends where the hood meets the front bumper, took it back to the dealership and they confirmed it's chipped paint and they wanted to take it for 3 days to fix it. which is scheduled next Tuesday.
today I discovered that both front wheels make that loud clicking sound
when you slowly sharp turn right or left, in and out of parking spots for example.

I have 400 miles on brand new GS 2lt and already have chipped paint and god knows what causing this loud clicking noise. after a lemon 2015 stingray!!!!! WTH GM.

If that "clicking sound" you're trying to describe is the tire hop that is described in the owner's manual, it is completely normal. In other words, they couldn't design it a different way, so it becomes "normal." Nothing to worry about, though.

Yep, wheel hop is absolutely normal with this type of chassis geometry/front tire width. I had worse wheel hop on my 2008 Jaguar XK than on either of my 'Vettes. You do get used to it. Good luck on your GS though. I hope you love the new car!

thanks for the reply, but it's not the wheel hop. It is a metallic clicking sound. I found out that many GM car owners suffering from the problem, corvettes, Camaraos and Cads!

the inconveniences you put up with hardly qualify as a horror story...you got a brand new car out of the deal, i'd say be happy and move on.

You are right horror story and inconveniences are subjective. But this brand new car that you say I should take it and move on, which I did, is already having problems with less than 500 miles on them!!! What is your suggestion?

I'd say take it to the dealer and see if there is a problem. If there is and they can't fix it to your satisfaction sell / trade it in and move on. Life never works out how we want, it's unfortunate, but true. These are mechanical devices, made by human beings and are bound to have issues. Everyone who bitches on this forum about brand X doesn't have these problems, or I spent 80K on a car with problems, has never spent enough time on brand X's forums, because they have problems too.

Everyone complaining about the A8 tranny (and I understand there are real issues) should spend some time on the mercedes forums and the hard shifts from 2-1 in their auto.

Point is there is no perfect car. Go buy a half million dollar car and I promise you will find paint problems. Don't believe me? Go to a high end detail shop and look at the new Lamborghini's or Ferrari's coming in, straight from the factory that need serious paint correction.

I'm digressing, but your only real option is to see if your perceived problem is real, if it is, get it fixed, if they can't get a different car.

I totally agree with all you said, and for sure this my my first and last GM purchase, life is more important than dueling on a defective purchase. My biggest concern and disappointment though is the customer service and the level of blah you get from GM. They do not care. At least my experience showed me that, others might differ. I still own a BMW and customer service is outstanding in or out of warranty.

I was excited to get the new car and wanted my first post to be pictures of it and sharing thise pictures with the members. And I apologize if my post sounded bitchy, but I wanted to share the experience to assure others who are and who will be in my shoes to know They are not crazy when they hear clicking noise or feel vibration driving on the high way.

No excuse for poor customer service, I'm with you on that. Doesn't matter if it's a kia a company is defined by how it treats the people who buy the product. FYI the link isn't working for me.

To be fair it sounds like the majority of people who had the issue either fixed it be either A. Torquing the lugs to the proper value B. Cleaning the wheel hub. I'd start with re-torquing the lugs.

I wouldn't let that issue sour your whole experience. It really is a fantastic car.

I am sorry that i do not have a full knowledge of what you have been through as I am new here. But i can only imagine the level of NON customer service you went through!!!

you know i did not even know about lemon law till i went to GM's customer service page and contacted them for the problem and i felt that i'm talking to a robot on the phone. when i hung up i read again through their main page and it says " Before you contact BBB or Lemon lawyers contact us first" !!! Ironically it was them who directed me to pursue lemon law... lol

and the only reason i did not get my money and just walked away was the fact that i would lose good chunk of money for mileage. but now i wish i just lost money instead of going through the hassle and it seems i will go through the hassle again with this brand new car.

If I was not happy with the car, I would sell the car and buy a BMW. Life is too short to worry about a problematic car.

Sucks that your z51 took a **** but theres no need to be paranoid about your gs, i went down the paranoid road with my 2014 5.0. Not worth it man enjoy the car only bring it in if something is seriously wrong, these cars make wierd sounds get a louder exhaust and enjoy it. Dont worry brother your gs is mint as long as you dont scrutinize it with a magnifying glass.

Best tip i can give you is to take it to the dealership as little as possible, dealerships have been known to muck up more things than they fix.

As for the clicking sound while turning sharply in parking lots and what not, it appears it has to do with brake dust and dirt builing up. Your suppose to take off your wheels and clean the mating surfaces, of the wheel and the brake disks. Check out this post in this thread...
