What's goin on with these Michelin tires? or should I say these Corvette rims. I have a 2016 Z06 with the Z07 package that come with the Michelin Sport cup 2's. I decided to install the Michelin Super Sports and have been to two shops and they said the tires won't bead. ( I understand because the rim have a knurled edge) The first shop had 1 then 2 then 3 guys trying every trick in the book for an hour and a half with no luck. Any body know of something they aren't trying? Is it just these tires or what?
The problem is usually they cannot get the bead to seat because they cannot get enough air volume through the valve during installation. Do a search in the Z06 section and you will find several threads with solutions; basically it takes a shop that knows how to seat these large tires and many use a seating compound to reduce air leakage while seating.
No, Have not spun the tires on the rims yet. That may be the next option. So far, back to the dealer twice. The first time a standard re-balance, not better. Second time, a road force balance, no better. I am thinking wheels or tires are bad. I bought the car new last June, a 2016. A standard car M7, tires had a vibration from day 1.

I finally found a dealer that has a guy that took the course. (I guess GM has an instructional video.) Should get them back tomorrow. I think that what you are saying makes total sense, they should have an additional snifter valve located on the rim for the pressure monitor sensor so they can blast the tire with more air to pop that bead.
I had a tire that wouldn't seat and they used a bead bazooka bead seating tool to get it done. Maybe that would work?
I know the first guys tried that without any luck. I finally found a Chevy dealer that has seen the GM instructional video and success 2 on, now I'll bring them the other 2. Apparently you have to warm the tire in the sun, lube both rim and tire, use 45 lb shop air to blast the air in, and then spoon the bead over the knurled shoulder of the rim. All this and the GM video tech guy said it may still take an hour per tire.

Hope you took it back, complained.
At least you'd be on record so GM can't claim you caused this.
G/L, be interesting hearing what they do, or don't do.

I need to get back to the dealer next week. They have been very good about it. I would love to trade tires and wheels with another car on the lot, don't know if they will go for it, but I think it would be a start rather than just ordering rears from GM. We'll see what they say. I am going to ask the service manager to go for a ride with me and show him.
