Geez stop already. A4 was boring, but flawless. A6 was as sloppy as hell, hated it. A8 has all sorts of issues, getting my stator replaced as soon as the parts are in. Now they want to do A10? Never again. If I could swap this car for a clutch without losing tons of $$$ I would in a heartbeat.

The A6 in the C7 is a totally different animal than in the C6. Trust me I had a A6 in my 08 and a A6 now in my 2014 and the two trannys seem miles apart!

Damn that new A10 shifts so fast its ridiculous, seems like day and night compared to my A8. This is why i wanna trade my stingray in for the new ZL1. I actually just listed my 15 A8 for sale. Plan on getting the new ZL1 next spring.

I had a 10-speed bike, and that had too many gears. My 2005 C6 had an A4. I could go from 0 to 106 in second gear. In the mountains I used third gear. My 2012 C6 I have to use 3, 4, and 5 going up and slowing going downhill. They should take the 8 speed and remove 5, 6, and 7. 1 thru 4 - normal driving, 8 for cruising. 5 gears is just right.

All the people complaining about the A10 are old.....they don't get it. The A10 is as close you will come to a dual clutch.....

Gotta ride a bike more then. The best deal is the new 30 speed.
Goes up hills the others won't!

I think the real question is what are the new gear ratios?
If they are all overdrive gears then I don't want or need it.
If the gears are between 3rd 4th,5th and 6th and tuned correctly then I think it would be a better driving car.

I have to agree, 8 or 10 speeds are a needless complication. They may as well go to a CVT at that point (ugh).

the A6 in my C6 was a new experience for me considering 6 gears was a lot at the time.
I was also wondering what the big deal was going with even more gears when the A8 was introduced.
But now I like that even more than the A6.
The A6 would cruise between 4th and 5th on the back roads where as the A8 runs between 6th and 7th gear.
But there's a big difference when accelerating from a stop with the A8 as it goes up through the lower 4 gears.
The A8 zips quickly through the 1st 4 or 5 gears and gets you going pretty fast before you know it with only "light" throttle.
Getting further into the throttle from a stop and you have to watch where you're going
I like it and understand it more having one now.
How many gears are too much?
I don't know, I'm happy with the A8.
But as you mention, if the gears are setup correctly I think the 10 speed will be another nice Trans.
Just my 2 cents

Until GM or its supplier can make a torque converter that'll hold up - or a top shelf DCT - I think I'll keep my M7.

People are complaining about it without driving it. The video of the ZL1 A10 track test sure doesn't disappoint the driver or passenger. I'm going to be optimistic about it and believe that Ford and GM can pull it off and it will work well. It is necessary for upcoming CAFE standards. Maybe GM can fit it in the C7 and get past the GG tax on the Z06 auto.

I hear ya. I dig the A8, and think the A10 could be a performer as well. But this bad batch of TCs have really put the customers in a bad spot (and GM as well, as it was their supplier that did it, not GM).

I have to agree, and I am completely happy with 6 gears given all the bad news I read about the a-8.

Gotta' admit.... Between the supercharger and 10spd trans, the throttle response of this thing out of corners looks flabbergasting...
