I did take my C7 to the Corvette Club meeting. Light rain but roads remained basically dry. I didn't put the top down!!!!!!

I drove home from Ocean City MD 2.5 hours in pouring rain Sat am. Riding on Nitto 555R Drag Radials and with close to 800RWHP no issues at all.

Meguiars NXT wax had the car still looking clean after it dried off in my garage.

Default shopping..."summer only tires?"

I'm on here learning while I shop for my first vette. I'm learning many things among them that , unless I missed something, all models are sold with "summer only" tires. I plan to drive the car in all but icy conditions....my driving plans could be described as "early spring to late fall". So, what's with the "summer only" tires? I'm also worried that this car isn't designed , or at least equipped with tires from the factory, that allow it to be safely driven on wet/somewhat cold roads. And, yes, I understand the need to be very careful with the throttle at such times etc.

Hi!

if you purchase the c7 with summer only tires (michelin pilot super sport zp) it is recommended that it is not driven in under 50 F conditions, icy/snow/cold roads as well...Michelin is coming out with an all season tire for the z51 soon, for folks who use their vette in this manner...(it's available in the base c7)
However, we can tell you from experience that unless you are trying to be overly aggressive, the car can handle most wet situations, and is fine to drive in the rain. I've driven from our track to Las Vegas hundreds of times in every vette and camaro since 1999, and have experienced all the above conditions from light to extreme(it does rain in the desert, and snow on the pass on way to Vegas) If driven to the conditions, and careful, i've never experienced anything significant. i'll never forget hitting a patch of ice in my '04 gmc truck, however, with all season tires, and took every bit of driver training i've had to keep it from the guardrail
on our track, i've hit deep puddles (turn 6 of the 2.2 track if anyone here has experienced that lol) and hydroplaned...just steadied my steering, eyes up, and regained control after the puddle.
Wet or weather mode in the c7 (with the fe4 magnetic ride susp. option) is or can be a car saver for almost anyone in most situations...
But again, if driving 80mph on a freeway with 100' of visibility and hitting a puddle or river coming across the road happens, all bets are off!
Oh, and the car won't melt if you drive it in the rain lol

feel free to PM or email me if you have any other concerns/questions!

Assuming you're serious, I use Weather Mode in the winter when it's below 40 until I drive far enough to get the tires warm! I also use it with moderate to heavy rain. It has the nannies interact faster.
In Sport mode, where I drive 95% of the time, when it's cold the rear will step out slightly even at modest throttle when I enter the 4 lane highway near my home. In weather mode it does not. Same when even modestly powering out of a turn when wet.
