I read this forum religiously, always hoping to find the rare post that is educational, relevant, or of interest to enhance my ownership experience of the Vette.
What has happened on this forum when members post about another car or criticize the C7 is a joke. It really is pathetic.
I consider myself a car car enthusiast, like many others here, and I love lots of cars.
The C7 is amazing and it is an aspirational automobile for many. So is, even more so, a 911 or a BMW, MB, Audi, Ferrari, etc...
And not a single 1 of them is perfect.
As soon as someone mentions a Porsche the insults start, an M car and the poster is ostracized, all because a person may feel that parts of the ownership experience are superior to the C7 experience.
I get the C7 loyalty, it's an amazing car, but nowhere near perfect. Build quality is still below that of many, material quality still lags in some areas, the dealership experience is horrific, and there are other faults.
Do I love owning a C7? YES. I also love my Pcar. They mean different things to me.
While a Vette excels and surpasses competitors on some points, it loses and fails on others, as do Porsches and BMWs.
I wish this forum was like it used to be, a car enthusiast community, instead of chest thumping guys who insult and belittle other members because they criticize or like other cars better.
I know what you're saying, but I could care less what the nay sayers post in here because the ladies love the C7, and it's always a conversation starter with them. What else matters? The C2 forum is worse than this one though there are some who really are helpful, others are just arrogant asses who will criticize you for using the "wrong" oil.
With all due respect, a two year member with 69 post wants the forum to be like it used to be......You are correct some find it offensive another has less than 100% love for the car, but it no worse on this forum than the others (different brand) I frequent. It's just the way of the world. FWIW, I find the vast majority of members here are true enthusiast, and here to help any way they can.
Plus, the fanatics are quite entertaining sometimes.
Not necessarily. The OP could have been a long-time reader without joining.

Yes, another thread complaining about the bitching, moaning, griping, pissing matches and the sort. Yet I see you posted anyway. Maybe more people should "get the message".

While the complain factory is open, how pompous is it for people to have signatures that take up an entire screen?? What a waste of space have to scroll through the list of mods on a car on each and every post.

HAHA! That's awesome, lol. But wait, you mean you don't care about my Lloyds Stingray Floor Mats?! Lol
Funny thread, and great responses. Really made me smile after a LONG day at the office.
No cars are perfect. As car guys, we like what we like, but having choices, to me, is what makes this game so much fun year after after. I've had many different cars, I'm not brand loyal. I'm loyal to being the best steward of my funds as I can be when choosing the best performance value I perceive for my dollar. Right now, in my opinion, Chevrolet is nailing it with the C7, and new Gen Camaros. And this from a guys who's owned over a dozen Mustangs, and many late model Mustangs as well. They're great cars too, and far from perfect, but also none of them were "junk" by any stretch of the imagination. And my Porsche was FLAWLESS during my ownership experience, even after beating it to within an inch of its life on many track days, including spinning the car out and mowing some grass at Big Bend at Lime Rock once at well above normal operating temperature! Lol

Great post and so true. Post something negative about a Corvette and be prepared to get beat up.
I also own a Porsche 981 and Jaguar XKR and even a mention of them, and you get beat up. Most members here are not very open minded. There is no doubt that the Corvette brand is iconic and has a long standing history of ownership, but it's not the only premium sports car on the road.
I love the C7, but also love the Porsche 981 and the Jaguar XKR. All fantastic rides.
I am a member of the Jaguar Forum also Internet Brands owned and you will never see the behavior that is evident here, on that forum.
Nice to see someone stand up for what he thinks.

I think what has happened is all the new model fever we had back in 2013 when everyday new things were being discovered and we all clinged to our screens daily to find out something new. Late '13 into '14 as I planned my purchase I remembered being "gut shot" when that sudden price hike happened....that shocked many of us...the website was just booming with drama. A short time later supplier price came out and all was well again.
Now in 2016 the GS is announced which gave us a little bump in excitement, but we already know what's below the covers so no bigger there.
Now we've run out of things to hash over and boredom makes way for arguing.
OP, FYI this is a Corvette Forum and the majority on people here are Corvette fans or enthusiasts with some trolls mixed in. Sure some drink the Corvette Kool-aid a little too much but some like yourself seem to be drinking the Porsche, BMW Kool-aid a little too much as well! Although they too have improved in interior quality with their newer models, please don't fool yourself or better yet fool the less known into thinking they're so superior because they are NOT!! I have had many of them and it's more perception than reality. They are not "all that" with the exception of a few models like the new model S-Class and a couple other models! And no matter what, ALL German cars (except VW) are over-priced and offer less standard features when compared to their US, British or Japanese rivals! That said, all cars these days have stepped up in interior quality and features!
Anyways, yes the Corvette needs improvements in some areas (as with every other car out there) and GM should read this site and try to improve on the car where needed.

This ain't the first forum I've been on that's had its share of trolls, smart**es, naysayers and self-righteous types with 69 posts since October of 2014. The trick to navigate through the muck that irritates, offends and antagonizes. This is the real world made up of all of the above and on a whole, it ain't so bad given these are 1st world problems.
I certainly didn't mean to come across as whining or complaining. I was just observing.
A few clarifications:
- I have been a member since 2005, but reset my user name and password
- My point was not to be critical of Corvette, just to note that there are a lot of really great cars on the market (in all price ranges) that are desirable, but not a single 1 is perfect.
Seriously, I own 2 C7s, I just picked up a 991.2 Carrera S, I also daily drive an RS7 and all are amazing, all do things the others don't, and all have a few shortcomings.
Since we are talking about Porsche, I think they are way overpriced. Build quality is not commencorate with price. The engine in the Caymen/Boxster lacks proper amount of torque and saps the fun out of driving the car. You have to spend gobs of money for optional leather interior bits that should be standard at that price. The 911 body style is so outdated the car lacks the proper attention on the street that a $90k-$150k car should get. If we're rating dealer experience on value then they get a 0 on 1-10 scale for oil changes.
The Chevy service dept. at the dealership I go to specializes in Corvettes but I've hardly gotten the chance to get to know them.
These are opinions I'd never express on the Porsche forum so as not to cause a $#\tstorm.
I totally agree with all you say but be aware that Corvette price out of the US is not exactly cheap... I paid about 130K euros / $150K for my Z06 in France so just because I really wanted another Vette. But price was not so competitive compare to other brands even if still interesting.

Wow, with that kind of coin in cars you could have bought me a new house. Would make my wife very happy.
Actually I am jealous.
Honestly, for me, I enjoy the P-car the most. I've had 13 of them and I've had just as many Vettes.
It's a matter of how I fit in the cars. The Porsche is just roomier and more comfortable inside. I'm 6'3" and 250 lbs and the C7 is comfortable but tight.
I will say this though, the Vette (any Vette) gives me a huge sense of pride while driving and even detailing them. They are much more interesting aesthetically than a 911 and there is so much pride in ownership from most of the Vette community.
The Porsche community is different because besides enthusiasts there are so many on the road just because it is a Porsche with snob appeal.
Plus, whatever shortcomings the C7 has, stomp the go pedal and the world is a very happy place.
What kind of house could you buy for a 1/4 mil? Not one I want to live in...lol (clarify, anywhere near where I live now.)
But seriously, if you want to make the Corvette forum experience better, just go to the off topic, politics section, write down the names of everybody that posts there, and put them on ignore.
I don't find it difficult to sort through the riff-raff here. This forum is easy and enjoyable for me compared to a few of the others I'm on. But it is the internet, you don't have to read or participate if you don't want to and I really don't understand anyone taking anything anyone says on a personal level here.
I decided when I first got the car that I was going to learn it inside and out and try to share what little bit I've learned to be helpful. Most people seem to be like that, some are just dicks. Meh, I just pass on the latter and appreciate the rest of everyones contributions.
There are hundreds of helpful, knowledgeable members here. I learned about cleaning and polishing procedures and materials, headers and exhausts, lowering, skirts and splitters, maintenance, track setup, protective film, lifts and lifting, tires and nany more. The depth of understanding of Corvette is without peer. And most of these guys are not annoying
