I read this forum religiously, always hoping to find the rare post that is educational, relevant, or of interest to enhance my ownership experience of the Vette.
What has happened on this forum when members post about another car or criticize the C7 is a joke. It really is pathetic.
I consider myself a car car enthusiast, like many others here, and I love lots of cars.
The C7 is amazing and it is an aspirational automobile for many. So is, even more so, a 911 or a BMW, MB, Audi, Ferrari, etc...
And not a single 1 of them is perfect.
As soon as someone mentions a Porsche the insults start, an M car and the poster is ostracized, all because a person may feel that parts of the ownership experience are superior to the C7 experience.
I get the C7 loyalty, it's an amazing car, but nowhere near perfect. Build quality is still below that of many, material quality still lags in some areas, the dealership experience is horrific, and there are other faults.
Do I love owning a C7? YES. I also love my Pcar. They mean different things to me.
While a Vette excels and surpasses competitors on some points, it loses and fails on others, as do Porsches and BMWs.
I wish this forum was like it used to be, a car enthusiast community, instead of chest thumping guys who insult and belittle other members because they criticize or like other cars better.
Obviously you needed to vent. I will say though that I agree with you. I came from a Focus ST forum and for the most part all the members where way more just into cars then on here. I love my C7 but I never am critical of other peoples choices. As you state no car is perfect, they all will have some degree of problems and issues.
I do see a train wreck ahead though.

You might as well just stop reading... I read this forum far less because of this. Who would have thought a forum with such a high average age would have so many members who act like d-bag teenagers. Luckily there are still a few who are helpful, but it seems less and less.
The world is full of whiners and complainers and thats who we usually hear from. With that said, I delete those whom I feel are d-bags and the like. So I never have to read their crap again. I read the posts that are positive and have something to add to the corvette experience. Life is way too short to deal with these types of losers.
Lets hear it for some positive corvette experiences!
Since we are talking about Porsche, I think they are way overpriced. Build quality is not commencorate with price. The engine in the Caymen/Boxster lacks proper amount of torque and saps the fun out of driving the car. You have to spend gobs of money for optional leather interior bits that should be standard at that price. The 911 body style is so outdated the car lacks the proper attention on the street that a $90k-$150k car should get. If we're rating dealer experience on value then they get a 0 on 1-10 scale for oil changes.
The Chevy service dept. at the dealership I go to specializes in Corvettes but I've hardly gotten the chance to get to know them.
These are opinions I'd never express on the Porsche forum so as not to cause a $#\tstorm.
After a while one gets to know the regular posters and whose comments are worthwhile and whose comments are worthless. The worthless comments are for entertainment value only while the worthwhile comments are very educational and keeps me learning new things about the car.
I understand what you're talking about and as a car guy I enjoy all types and makes as well. However, the problem is when some folks start bashing Corvettes and then don't understand why people get defensive. It's a "Corvette Forum" so why are you surprised? I go to several large car shows every year and some are sponsored by the local Ferrari Club. There is every kind of exotic make at these shows and this past year over 50,000 people attended. 99% of the folks there love cars, but, if someone came up and demeaned anyone's car there I'm sure it'd would start a discussion at the least. In my opinion it's about respect and consideration.
This forum is called C7 General Discussion. It is for discussing...C7 Corvettes. Scroll down and you will find a forum called Off Topic.
That is a perfect place to post about your sweet Versa, Prius, Porsche or anything else you may have in your garage. I will go to a Porsche forum when I want to learn or discuss Porches.
I know that this forum is at the top of the list and that is probably why most drop their trash in here. I predict that these issues will fade away as soon as the C8 Forum General Discussion is created.
BTW, what's up with the click bait thread titles? C7.......look at my wife's new Volvo!

With all due respect, a two year member with 69 post wants the forum to be like it used to be......You are correct some find it offensive another has less than 100% love for the car, but it no worse on this forum than the others (different brand) I frequent. It's just the way of the world. FWIW, I find the vast majority of members here are true enthusiast, and here to help any way they can.
Plus, the fanatics are quite entertaining sometimes.

I don't find it difficult to sort through the riff-raff here. This forum is easy and enjoyable for me compared to a few of the others I'm on. But it is the internet, you don't have to read or participate if you don't want to and I really don't understand anyone taking anything anyone says on a personal level here.
I decided when I first got the car that I was going to learn it inside and out and try to share what little bit I've learned to be helpful. Most people seem to be like that, some are just dicks. Meh, I just pass on the latter and appreciate the rest of everyones contributions.
I'm here mainly for the entertainment. Love the arguments. I get some of my best material here. If you are seriously looking for car info, their are other places you can look. A Corvette forum is not the best place to discuss other cars. This place is the best, especially for the laughs. Hope you find what you're looking for. ..
OP it comes and it goes...cars are cool, neat and always changing. C7's are the stuff that powers this form page, so if something or someone post about something other than a C7 the stuff will hit the fan.
Several members here have cars other than C7's and will show them in the background when posting a photo of their C7, generally to the appreciation of the other members. Of course there are others who take offence to anything other than a C7 posted here and that's OK, it is , after all the C7 General Forum.
But, by now you should have learned that there are some posts that you just skip over...or read for the humor.
You can learn a lot by just reading every post....your mind will get filled with all kinds of extraneous BS, probably useful in another life. But, heck, your still learning. If you want to learn about the C7 there are bits and pieces of information here, some good some bad, there are also lots of posts about what broke and how bad the quality is, very few about how good the car is.
Best way to learn about the C7 is to drive it and play with the thing. Having problems, call the dealer, not good information there, try another dealer or GM. Just don't expect the C7 forum to be loaded with all the information you want...it is but there is a lot of crap that goes with it.
Learn to ignore, grin and bare it or accept it for what it is. A bunch of C7 owners from different walks of life, different politics, religions, ethnic groups and they are all posting on the internet under the mask of anonymity.
As Bob Fosse said "It's showtime".
I can see both sides of it..... But For years all of the Corvette guys heard from other competitors was your car is made of plastic and only good in a straight line...yada yada yada...
Well now that Corvette has a completely competitive car from bumper to bumper inside and out....turn about is fair play.. And competition is what moves us car guys and keeps us on here day after day talking smack and reading other posts.
Don't take it too serious. At the end of the day we all like what we have paid for...
Well most of us.
And I have owned several 911 s models , a Ferrari, a Lamborghini, and several Z06 Corvettes and now a C7 z51 Stingray.

Oh and my 2007 911 Carrera S . Leaked oil bi weakly , if I didn't start it or drive it for more than a week. The plastic door handle broke on the driver side which is a common problem from getting in and out of the car too much I was told. 67k on the odometer .
Interior was not even in the same league as my 3lt Z51.
I will say I did like the sound and the handling where it lacked power. Overall it was a good car. But at 104k ..No. It was not up to par with the Corvette C7.
I realize it was a 997. I cannot comment on the 991 . But I won't be buying another Porsche , if Corvette continues to go the direction they are going.
